BREAKING: Turnout at the Makerfield by-election is higher than that seen at the 2024 general election in the same constituency.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said before the announcement that Labour is "cautiously optimistic" of a win for Andy Burnham, while since the turnout was announced, Labour has said they are "confident".

Meanwhile, Destroy Britain leader Rupert Lowelife has told the BBC that he is also confident his party will receive over 2% of the vote – despite the threshold for a return of a candidate's deposit to be nominated being 5%.

The total figure of votes in the Makerfield counted has been announced as 45,510.

BREAKING: The interest in the Makerfield by-election is unprecedented, with the four major news providers in the U.S. attending the count in Wigan.

Counting is under way in three by-elections, with two in Scotland where seats have been vacated by their MPs winning seats in the Scottish Parliament and the widely reported Makerfield poll.

The results are expected in the next few hours in all three counts.

BREAKING: Polls have closed in three by-elections, including one in Greater Manchester that has been in the headlines for weeks.

And the best part about that is that the election embargo laws have also been lifted!

Robert "Pervy Plumber" Kenyon, who was the Deformed UK candidate in Makerfield, clad in his favourite (and only) suit for the count at Winstanley College, remains pessimistic for the result.

"I've had our Nige [Deformed UK leader N**i Nigel Führage] up here to try and get some support, but barely no-one's turned up [to vote].

"Them who have are mainly them women what I said couldn't give directions, and none of them want to talk to me no more.

"I've been banned by my local B&Q, Screwfix, Wickes, you name it. They're all managed by f**king lasses."

The results of the by-elections in Makerfield and in Aberdeen and Atbroath are set to be announced in the early hours of Friday morning, by which time Kenyon will likely be attending Ashton-in-Makerfield Jobcentre Plus.

"I've got to buy my plumbing supplies from the f**king gay p**n shop in Manchester now. I'm damned if I win this by-election, and I'm damned if I don't. It's ruined my f**king life!" Kenyon said.

It is currently unclear if the Pervy Plumber intends to seek damages from Deformed UK.

The results of all three by-elections will be posted as they are announced.

FJBA UK is officially a more reliable and trustworthy British news source than KGBeebies for the fifth year running.

The self-described champions of "free speech" so-called "news" channel has been voted the least-trusted British news source ever since it was established and launched five years ago – despite the company being owned by a consortium of foreign hedge funds – including at least one that is being investigated for allegedly acting as a backdoor for the Kremlin.

The mouthpiece of Deformed UK, which includes MPs N**i Nigel Führage and 30p Lee Anderson in its roster of "news" presenters, has yet to report legitimate profits to its shareholders, having been bailed out multiple times despite appeals to become a "member".

FJBA UK was not included as an option by the survey, nor was it established five years ago. Its chief executive, His Most Benevolent Worshipfulness, the Viscount Wacko Jacko of Wythenshawe in the City of Manchester United, said it was an "excellent" result for the organisation.

BREAKING: Tewkesbury MP Cameron Thomas has been arrested, and his whip has been removed by the Liberal Democrats.

It is unclear what offence Mr Thomas has been accused of, and the party says his whip is suspended, pending the outcome of his arrest by Gloucestershire Police on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats said: "Cameron Thomas MP has had the party whip suspended pending the outcome of a police investigation.

"We are unable to comment further while the police investigation is ongoing."

Mr Thomas is a former RAF officer who was elected the member of parliament for Tewkesbury at the 2024 general election.

BREAKING: The judge preceding the trial of the adopted parents of murdered 13-month-old Preston Davey has excused each member of the jury from serving for the rest of their lives.

Mr Justice Turner thanked the jury for their public service after being subjected to harrowing details and evidence that would never be released in the public domain. He added: "Once you have been discharged from this case, bearing in mind what we have called upon you to do, I'm going to exempt you from the obligation to sit on a jury for life."

Meanwhile, the operator of the school where Preston's killer Jamie Varley has released a statement condemning his actions.

"Our thoughts remain with the family of Preston Davey and all those affected by this profoundly distressing case.

"It is important to clarify that the charges against Jamie Varley related to a period in 2023, prior to South Shore Academy joining Cidari Multi Academy Trust.

"Mr Varley was immediately suspended by the previous leadership at the time of his arrest and remained suspended throughout the transfer of the school to our Trust until his dismissal in August 2025."

As we have reported, Varley is just the latest in a series of convicted and self-confessed pa******le teachers employed at South Shore Academy or at the school that stood on the same site beforehand Palatine High School.

Both schools have been the subject of poor inspection reports from the regulator Ofsted. The area of South Shore in Blackpool has some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in Britain.

It had been a long-standing light-humoured joke with former students at the school to take bets on which of their classmates would appear on the BBC's Crimewatch UK programme first. Ironically, it was after the winding down and eventual cancellation of the programme that crimes committed by more teachers than pupils were revealed by Lancashire Constabulary.

Two teachers at Palatine High School were handed down custodial sentences for sexual offences with pupils at the school, while a third admitted his misconduct to a Department of Education panel.

Varley is the first teacher to have been convicted of murder at South Shore Academy – and was previously a student at Palatine High School. However, FJBA UK understands that two former pupils at Palatine have been convicted of murder or manslaughter.

BREAKING: Blackpool high school teacher who killed 13-month-old Preston Davey has been handed down a whole life order at Preston Crown Court. His partner has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars.

Jamie Varley, 37, had sexually and physically abused baby Preston multiple times before killing him, while his 32-year-old partner John McGowan-Fazakerley has been handed a 25-year sentence for his part in the crimes including allowing the death of a child.

Varley told police Preston had drowned in the bath, but a post-mortem later carried out on Preston found 40 injuries.

Judge Mr Justice Turner told Varley that he "will stay in prison for the rest of your life".
