~ Did you know you might only get a few hundred words to sell your business to a buyer? ~
I’m currently working on a submission that has heavy word limits, I can’t fit everything I’d like to say in the response and it’s frustrating!
In times like these, letting the buyer know they should award you top marks boils down to a few key things;
✔️ Shred the question - Break it up into chunks, and be sure to answer every one. Sounds simple, but this helps to focus on what’s important and keeps the writing from going off on a tangent.
✔️ Know the score - Check what you need to do to get top marks, and do it. This might mean including added value or providing evidence, but you can loose marks for not knowing and doing this.
✔️ Delete the waffle - We’ve all done it, but editing and editing again is your friend. If words are limited, then removing any unnecessary sales pitch will be appreciated!
And lastly
✔️ Remember, it’s not about you, it’s about what the buyer will get from working with you. If your business can offer something others can’t, remember to let them know how this will benefit them or solve their pain point.
Having looked back at my work so far on this one, I’ve been guilty of all of these to some degree! I’ve got a day or two of editing ahead off me to get back on track before submission late next week ✍️
Got any questions about similar bids you’re working on? Drop me a line, I’m happy to help ✍️
