Massive Corruption Scandal Uncovered in Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
In a major breakthrough, the National Accountability Bureau has uncovered serious financial irregularities and misuse of public funds in a high-profile corruption case linked to Kohistan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
NAB has officially converted its preliminary inquiry into a full-scale investigation after finding credible evidence of systemic corruption and misappropriation of public resources.
Recoveries and Actions:
So far, NAB has seized and frozen assets worth over Rs. 25 billion.
The investigation has led to the recovery of over Rs. 1 billion in cash, foreign currency, and 3 kilograms of gold.
73 bank accounts have been frozen, leading to the recovery of around Rs. 5 billion.
A total of 77 luxury vehicles have been seized, including the latest models of Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, Revo, Mark X, Land Cruiser, and Fortuner, with an estimated value exceeding Rs. 940 million.
NAB has also confiscated 109 properties, which include 30 residential houses,25 apartments,12 commercial plazas,12 shops and 4 farmhouses, valued at over Rs. 17 billion.
The seized real estate also includes penthouses and 175 kanals of agricultural land located in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Mansehra.
Additionally, a main contractor, Muhammad Ayub, has been arrested during the investigation. During questioning, he reportedly disclosed dealings with senior officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. 1
