When your RV rental goes wrong in America what do you do?

What an experience and educational for the children too! Scary but great, we visited the Everglades and bought a combo package which meant we could see both alligators and learn about the habitat also the staff were very friendly and educational albeit a bit crazy to get that close to alligators!

So we left our planned holiday for a bit of an adventure BECAUSE we just weren’t ready to fly back to the UK to the rain just yet!

So without much thought or planning (totally us) we got hold of a massive RV - thank goodness the man has experience driving huge buses back home as it was incredible a literal apartment on wheels, even the kids got stuck in with cooking and cleaning (not something they volunteer for usually).!

We decided to head south as the storm was heading in to Florida and found the alligators in the Everglades what a fun experience for the children gliding on the airboat and a truck tour following a meet and greet with alligators. The staff were so friendly and fun the kids learned a lot before heading back to journaling their experience from the day.

Next stop Tampa … let’s go!

Life is pretty weird sometimes you think you are all set and then BOOM this happens! We sold up and went travelling in 2021 the post Covid hit and we gave up jobs as a nurse and carpenter and left to see the world. A few years later we are running a campervan conversion business and travelling when we can whilst homeschooling our three almost grown up kids. Yes we have ups and downs and we still wonder if we are doing the right thing but the memories and time spent together is so addictive. We started out documenting everything on YouTube but our focus for now is the business we have built. Head over to tik tok for short clips or hang around here for now but one day we may go back to YouTube right now though we hope you enjoy the content we can show.
Some of you are asking how we manage everything and it’s not always easy but we have hope in our hearts and know that this lifestyle has been a blessing for us as a family. Thank you for sticking with us and if you are new around here why not go and watch how it all started on YouTube

Don’t be shy get into the rv/campervan lifestyle you won’t regret it!
We have traveled through the uk and Europe and now America and how exciting to see so many places with wheels! No expensive hotel costs, getting into the thick of it with locals and enjoying what each country has to offer .. if you are in any doubt do it tell them we sent you

Exploring the USA is so different to Europe!
We have travelled as as family for 5 years and mostly Europe honestly this trip sent us the tingles so different yet so similar but wow beautiful can we live there please?

When you are used to European and uk roads the USA surprised us

This was a little embarrassing trying to fill up with fuel in America for the first time and we didn’t find it too easy .. they definitely do things differently to us and it’s not a bad thing!

What an experience and much better than we first thought!
We drove 5 hours down from Orlando to the Everglades and found a campsite near the famous Wooten’s alligator sanctuary, we picked the airboat and truck combo which then included an alligator insight and hold session. At first we felt so nervous as we saw so many alligator’s sunbaking on the side of the rivers whilst driving down but were assured the airboats were fairly safe and I mean fairly because they made us sign a waiver before we could get on and enjoy the ride. Now the captain had 14 years experience (so he claimed) which meant we were in safe hands and he ripped through the salt banks and lake like a pro we got up close to a few and saw them in their own habitat swimming which was so surreal but worth it.
Followed by a truck ride through the trees and finished up with an educational show. Would we do it again absolutely the staff were so informative and friendly

What an incredible journey and 1st stop in America RV territory! We headed from Orlando and took the 95 tolls down towards Miami where we split at st lauderdale and headed for the Everglades national park. We found the perfect campsite near the airboats which we are trying tomorrow although nervous after alligator spotting all the way down to ochopee! The beds are made the place is tidy and so much more space than we have usually! The campsite offers its own small zoo and a lake (staying away from that)! Currently watching the sunset through palm trees and the pitch sizes are awesome. We did have to stop for gas and were confused when we couldn’t find the petroleum fill point. Local RV people are lovely and helped us set up for the first time. Now to enjoy a glass of wine from a paper cup as we weren’t expecting this journey at all! Life is spontaneous and for living so we’re trying that
