Part 3: The Deep Clean!

It's time for some serious technical restoration on this 2003 Dell Inspiron 1100! We're using Isopropanol and a Magic Eraser to scrub away 20+ years of grime from the motherboard and internals.

But the real boss fight? That rock-hard fossilized thermal paste on the CPU! It took some serious patience (and a lot of alcohol) to get it back to factory clean. Plus, look at that copper heatsink shine!

Opening a 2003 Time Capsule!

Can't believe how clean this Dell Inspiron 1100 is after 20+ years! But that original thermal paste? It's literally turned to rock. RIP cooling.

We're taking it back to 2003 with this Dell Inspiron 1100 survivor, with a "MASSIVE" 1GB of RAM and 30GB of Hard Drive storage!
Running a Intel Celeron 2.4GHz Processor and Windows XP, watch as I disassemble it, clean it, and give it a new lease on life with fresh Thermal paste and put some games from the 90s and 00s on it see how it runs and relive some nostalgia with the likes of Doom, Need for Speed Carbon and what ever we can fit on the Hard Drive!

New Project Loading....

Dell Inspiron 1100 Laptop from 2003, Windows XP, a whopping 1GB of RAM and 30GB hard drive.

Strip the Machine down and replace the Thermal Paste with MX-4 and clean the internals from the 20+ years of dust and grime.

Will be adding games from MSDos, Win 95/98 and XP era.

Looks like this is going to be a good candidate for RetroSix RePCB, Clean screen and maybe even a new shell.

Update on the Game Gear with No Power, replaced the power board with a donor working board and we have life!

But.... We do not have Audio and we have a washed out screen, Next Stop Replace the Capacitors, stay tuned to see if we can restore this piece of Sega history

No power, Start Button and B Button not depressing, not been opened previously - Which means Capacitor Replacement needed.
Damage around Power Switch.

Process to diagnose
1. Test Power Board / Replace with known working board
2. Get Red Boot Light
3. Test with Game
4. Test Screen
5. Test Audio

Repairs Must Do

1. Replace Capacitors - Power Board / Replace with Clean power
2. Replace Capacitors - Mainboard
3. Replace Capacitors - Audio Board / Replace with CleanAmp

Replace depending on Diagnosis

1. Replace Speakers
2. Replace Screen with Clean screen
3. Replace Mainboard with RePCB
4. Replace Shell Damage
