The first week back at school has been okay, though mornings bring severe meltdowns as the new routine is quite challenging. Her OCD is unfortunately getting worse, making everyday outings a battleground. The recent six weeks of holidays were incredibly difficult. Just going shopping at Asda became a major trigger; being in the middle of an aisle with people asking her to move sends Lexi completely disregulated. It has reached a point where my partner physically has to leave while she is kicking, screaming, headbutting, and nipping.
I did not know about this until about a month ago but I plan to use the statutory rights under the Maternity and Parental Leave etc. Regulations 1999. In the UK, parents of a disabled child are entitled to take up to four weeks of unpaid parental leave per year, allowing flexibility in choosing which days to take off to care for your child
