Via Abdou El Wahid GraichiCucarella | Brighton called. Fatboy Slim answered. The man himself showed up to his city today, played a free set on the streets and reminded the far right exactly where they were.

Weapon of Choice was always the right song for today. No place for hate in Brighton. Not today. Not ever. ♥️💅🏾

Brighton showed up ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Thousands gathered in the city today to stand against hate and support the LGBTQ+ community after far-right groups attempted to target Pride events across the UK.

BRIGHTON 2, FAR RIGHT 0. HERE IS EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED TODAY VIA

❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

South East Patriots came to Brighton today with 400 people and a plan to march through the city. They got approximately 10 metres from Brighton station. That was as far as they got.

The Carnival Against Fascism had been waiting since 11am. More than 20 anti-racist groups, an estimated 4,000 people, flooded Queens Road and shut the march down before it started. Signs everywhere. Flags everywhere. Music everywhere.

Fatboy Slim, Norman Cook, Brighton’s most famous resident, showed up for his city and played a free set on the streets outside Brighton station. Phil Hartnoll from Orbital pledged his support too. Brighton did not just resist. Brighton partied.

Fighting broke out on Queens Road and was broken up by officers. Five arrests confirmed by Sussex Police. The first before the march had even started. No serious injuries reported. Sussex Police confirmed 2,500 people were in attendance at the height of the day. British Transport Police were also deployed.

Fatboy Slim later commented on our coverage: “So proud of our City today. No place for hate.”

Council Leader Councillor Bella Sankey said it earlier this week: “Don’t come. Your message of hatred is not welcome here.”
