Today we delivered something really special with Sound Forge Studio.
We ran another therapeutic DJ workshop, this time inside a medium secure unit – a forensic mental health facility – supporting individuals who are currently too unwell to be part of the wider community.

These sessions are part of an incredible initiative set up by Fatboy Slim, using DJing as a tool for connection, self-expression and healing. They’re run in partnership with the NHS and are designed to support people who are struggling with their mental health.

Watching the residents open up through music today was nothing short of inspiring. Seeing the smiles, the head nods, the joy of beatmatching and blending tracks – it reminds us just how powerful music can be. It creates moments of presence, expression, and even hope.

We regularly run these sessions at Rockwater in Hove, but we also take them directly into units like today’s for those who need it most. We’ve got another one next week in a specialist hospital in Chichester – and we’re just getting started.

Massive respect to the team and all the participants for making it such a special experience.

Music really does heal.

🎧 Yesterday at Sound Forge Studio 🎶

We had an incredible session with the Fatboy DJ Workshop for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, working with some amazing people facing mental health challenges.

This wasn’t your standard therapy session. Instead of sitting around talking, we got hands-on with the decks, learned some DJ skills, and made some serious noise! It was all about socializing, having fun, and experiencing the joy of music together.

Music has such a unique way of bringing people together, lifting spirits, and creating a space where everyone can feel free to express themselves. We’re so proud to have been part of this initiative and can’t wait to do more sessions like this in the future.

A huge thank you to Natalie Rowlands for getting us involved!

Starting Out as a DJ? Here’s a Top Tip 🎧

When you’re just beginning your DJ journey, focus on learning the basics of beatmatching and phrasing. These are the foundations of smooth transitions and great sets. Spend time understanding how tracks are structured—knowing when to mix in and out is just as important as syncing beats.

Once you’ve got those basics down, start exploring your sound—build a collection of tracks that truly resonate with you. Passion for your music will shine through in every mix!
