Just in from Austin, the excellent new album from Weldon Henson. Thanks for the cool sticker Weldon, that’s going straight on the record box. We were blessed to be able to include Weldon’s song “Sleep All Day” on our compilation Whiskey Preachin Vol.1 (available from the WP website).

It’s great to have new music from a cornerstone of the Texas dancehall scene. I’m going to be hammering this new record tonight at Whiskey Preachin down at The Great Eastern in Brighton.

The lovely folks at Black Deer have asked us back to play some records for them in October at their Black Deer in the City extravaganza. Whiskey Preachin will be spinnin’ two hours of h***y tonkin’, gumbo rockin’ tunes after the last act on Saturday night. Woohoo! 🥃

The Black Deer In The City day splits are now here, as well as the next wave of artists and headliners.

We are thrilled to welcome American Aquarium to To***co Dock as Saturday's headliner. This will be the North Carolina band's first performance in England this year. They will top the bill after singer-songwriter Ford whose appearance at Black Deer will be a UK exclusive.

Performances from Chuck Prophet Official & His Cumbia Shoes will close the event on Sunday, after The Wandering Hearts take to the stage.

Since our first wave artist announcement, we are excited to welcome Ferris & Sylvester, Alabama 3 Acoustic, Lilly Hiatt, Michele Stodart, The Picturebooks, My Girl The River, Willa May, Isabella Coulstock, Ella Spencer, Jack Browning, Ben Jordan, Lauren Housley & The Northern Cowboys, Black Orchids, Mike West and Dead Lettuce.

Add to this smokehouse cooking and demos at the Live Fire stage, acoustic stages (artists to be announced soon), Gospel Brunch, custom motorcycles and trucks, tattoo parlour, DJs, chilli and hot dog eating competitions and a dance hall, it is going to be one hell of an Americana party at To***co Dock on the 25 & 26 October.

We are looking forward to heading up to Suffolk again at the end of the month for the excellentRed Rooster Festival, but before then, Whiskey Preachin are excited to announce that we will be presenting The Two Bad Jims The Great Eastern on Monday 19th May. That’s right, live Mississippi hill country blues in a tribute to the music of the great R.L.Burnside. This is a show to promote the band’s new album and a warm up for their performance at Red Rooster the following week. Free entry, with DJ support from

Señor Mick is otherwise engaged, so Shamblin Sexton will be flying solo, playing five hours full of his h***y tonk heroes. Come on down and join the hippies and cowboys at the bar 🥃
