Warning ⚠️, Warning ⚠️, Warning ⚠️

The next instalment of our limited edition Dubplate series is now live. Veteran artist Omar Bernard (Man A Kill Man), aka Kojo Neatness, steps up to the plate. A heavy, sparse, and dissonant riddim is the perfect backing for Omar's haunting but beautiful vocal stylings.
The B side offering is a vintage style rough cut dub, just right for the flip and play! As always, the instrumental was cut here in Bristol by The Poor Man’s Friend Crew. The vocal was recorded at Soundwave studio in Jamaica.

This one is not to be slept on! Only 25 copies have been printed. This is a small hole 7 inch record, lathe cut by our friends over in Bristol.

Ahead of our big event at the end of the month, we have decided to release an interview with the great Jah Lokko and Apollo Sound.

Available now over on our YouTube channel, Poor Man's Friend Records (link in Bio), this interview means a lot to me as myself and Norson Stewart aka Ranking Snoopy have been close friends for a good few years. Getting him, Dion Stewart and Arthur Anderson together for an interview is something we had spoke about regularly. So it's great to see it finally materialise.

Big up to Rider Shafique for hosting and for the incredible space. Go give this one a watch if you love Sound System Culture. We also have several other interviews with Bristol based labels and Sounds.

🚨🚨🚨Don't Change That Dub 🎛

Here it is, the B side of our latest release. A 7 inch record featuring the incredible Cornell Campbell of studio 1 and Bunny Striker Lee fame (amongst many others.

This heavyweight dub was put together by the talented .sound at his beautiful studio in Bristol. Yakka is known for his authentic sounding production and mastery of the mixing board.

Warning, warning! Brand new vinyl

Poor Man’s Friend Records is proud to present a brand new 7” featuring the legendary Cornell Campbell. This 45 delivers a powerful message from The Gorgon, a prolific artist whose recording career spans over 60 years. First recording for the venerable Coxone Dodd at Studio one, Mr Campbell has built a cult following with his trademark Falsetto voice. Equally adept at writing beautiful love songs as he is deep spiritual roots cuts, It's fair to say many of his works have become Iconic milestones in the evolution of the genre. In the year 2025, Cornell Campbell warns us of the pitfalls of living our life in an egotistical way, “ Just try sweeping up your backyard before you find fault with people's yard.” A searing condemnation of those that judge others based on their wealth, this mid seventies style roots production was cut by the Poor Man’s Friend Rhythm section at their studio in Bristol. What a crazy trip!

10 days in Jamaica recording, documenting, and creating content. Whilst I work on a load of new material, enjoy a couple of photos I took during my time in Kingston.

Happy Bandcamp Friday everyone!

We have an awesome merch drop this month, kicking it off with a brand new lathe cut Dubplate.
After the popularity of our last Glen Ricks release we have decided to record and press another!
Thank You is a huge soul vocal straight from Glen’s heart, recorded on our Pave The Way riddim this one is not to be missed (30 copies only).

We have also produced a small number of cassettes, this is to celebrate our recent collaboration with , every track is produced by us right here in Bristol and for the most part they are unreleased! Head to our Bio to listen to the mixtape which premiered on Stand High Patrols YT channel.

The last part of this merch drop is a short run of caps, you guys asked so we made it happen. These are 70’s style corduroy Trucker Caps with a large embroidered logo.
