The biggest myth I believed when I started freelancing? That I had to be everywhere.
On every platform. Posting every day. Saying yes to everything.
Spoiler alert: that’s the quickest route to burnout (and zero results).
I’ve been freelancing for almost 5 years now – and it’s been full of ups and downs.
Here’s ten things I’ve learnt along the way:
1) It’s OK if you have to find alternative incomes during a ‘dip’ - that doesn’t mean you’ve failed
2) It takes time to find your way - trust you’ll get there
3) You don’t need to be everywhere to grow your business.
4) As tempting as it is to work 24/7, that’s just a very fast path to burnout.
5) Strategy > scrambling. Always.
6) Saying yes to every client is not sustainable.
7) In fact, the day I said no to a client was a real turning point for me professionally and personally – the point of freelancing is being in control! You can decide who you work with!!
8) Consistency is more powerful than perfection.
9) Marketing without a plan = endless overwhelm.
10) You can take time off without your business falling apart (although this one is still really tough!)
And because I know how hard it can feel to balance visibility with actual life, I created Stay Visible This Summer – a free 6-week content batching plan to help you show up without being glued to your phone.
