Moon: Nature’s Secret Force on the big screen!! 🌒 🌙

Episode One: Dining By Moonlight will be screening at the Bristol Megascreen on the 14th June as part of the Festival of Nature, followed by a Q&A session digging into the making of the series.

Tickets are free but allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so be sure to secure yours early to avoid missing out!

In the Arctic, timing means survival 🌕🦊

In Iceland, Arctic foxes move through the year guided by changing light - finding a mate, raising cubs, and hunting through summer while preparing for the long winter ahead. As moonlight waxes and wanes, it shapes when foxes hunt, travel, and conserve energy.

Capturing this story meant returning across the year and planning around lunar phases, all while working through deep snow, icy winds, and rough seas. Despite the conditions, strong morale from the brilliant crew and teamwork made it possible to capture some truly magnificent sequences.

When the Moon waxes, the reef responds 🌕🪸

In Curaçao, we filmed coral spawning as it unfolded, captured larvae smaller than a grain of sand as they began their journey, and followed the work inside the conservation labs at CARMABI during spawning season.

Many coral species release eggs and s***m in response to the Moon’s phases and light, each following its own pattern. Filming meant staying flexible, tracking multiple species at once, and being ready whenever the Moon triggered the next wave of spawning.

This sequence came together through three dedicated teams - a macro team, a spawning behaviour team, and a BTS team - working side by side with fantastic local scientists, supported by colleagues back in Bristol, to bring something truly special to Moon: Nature’s Secret Force.
