Morning team!

Our final Essential Hits Update of 2025 has Kylie on course for her first number one in 23 years and RAYE still has the biggest song on UK radio beating off all the Christmas contenders.

The most movement this week is on the Shazam chart.
A Strictly results show performance by James has put them at the top of the Shazam chart. �
Tom Waits appears thanks to the new Knives Out which dropped on Netflix last Friday.
The other new entries are by Flipperachi and Kato, both of which appear in the UK Tik Tok Top 10.
Tik Tok also has a new number one with a throwback from Sean Paul.

As usual at this point in December, the charts are pretty much the same Christmas songs in a slightly different order.
Except for Shazam which people use to identify unfamiliar songs they like the sound of.
So for a steer on which tracks are catching peoples attention in a sea of festival familiarity, it’s a great place to look for inspiration.
If you were going to be playing one current song this Christmas party season it has to be Raye (for a more dancey crowd try the David Guetta remix for the win!).
Haven is the new no.1 song on Tik Tok in the UK and crossing over into radio with a 114% increase in plays on R1.

A new vocal house track from Sonny Fodera with D.O.D and a fan favourite from Ella Eyre are picking up tags on Shazam.
There are new releases from Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Dean breaking into the Tik Tok top 10.

New music from Dave features in the midweek chart with 3 tracks likely to enter the Official Top 10 this Friday.

Radio seems to have fallen out of love with Olivia Dean but she’s at the top on Spotify with over half a million more streams than Taylor Swift at no.2.

Sam Fenders new duet with Sir Elton John enters the airplay chart whilst his Radio One live lounge cover is the second most tagged track on Shazam.�David Guetta is trending upwards on Shazam with his latest Colab.

The Tik Tok trend of covering Fleetwood Mac tracks has sent one of their songs shooting into the UK top 3.

Olivia Dean features 4 times in the midweeks and her latest tune performs best on the Tik Tok chart, which also includes a new entry from a 10 year old Beyonce track.

Plus there’s a new collab from David Guetta on Shazam featuring 2 of the most soulful voices around today.

Here are this weeks Essential Hits!

It will come as no surprise to see Taylor Swift making her presence felt this week after her new album dropped on Friday. �There is one track in particular leading the chart charge and it’s no.1 on the midweeks, no.2 on Spotify and no.3 on radio (which is not bad at all for just 4 days airplay!).

It’s pretty clear we’re in the middle of a pop cycle at the moment with Olivia Dean and RAYE also doing very well.
Our future sound is another pop track with a catchy hook.

From next week the Tik Tok and Youtube charts will be moving over to the email edition of our Essential Hits weekly update.

Here is our first Essential Hits update of October.

On the midweeks there are new tracks from Olivia Dean and Tate Mcrae.

Sombr has a great week on Spotify with 3 tracks in The Top 10, including Undressed which also re-appears on Tik Tok.
There are 2 new entries on the UK Tik Tok chart.
One is a throwback from T-Pain and the other is the breakthrough track from The Marias (which sounds like nothing else in the charts this year).

Lots of movement on the Shazam chart this week including Fontaines DC, Kneecap and Pearl Jam.

Our Future Sound is from reality TV group Katseye.

Here is this weeks Essential Hits Chart Update.

In the midweeks there are new entries from Lewis Capaldi and a catchy new anthem from RAYE which has also broken into the Youtube chart.

Ed Sheeran's latest appears in airplay and Tyler, The Creator climbs to number one on Tik Tok.

TV shows continue to influence Shazam with new entries from The Walkmen (from Crime thriller Black Rabbit), Queens Of The Stone Age (Alien: Earth) and Taylor Swift (Season finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty).

Our Future Sound is a catchy uplifting new tune from Good Neighbours.
It’s caught the attention of Radio One and Capital and gives a great taste of what to expect on their new album which is out at the end of the week.

Here are this weeks Essential Hits!

On the midweeks it looks like HUNTRX and friends are are on for their 7th non-consecutive week at number one.
Sabrina Carpenter is having another good week with 3 tracks likely in the new top 10 on Friday.

Another Netflix hit (Wednesday) has given Lady Gaga a number one on airplay Youtube.
She’s also at the top on the Shazam Top 10 which includes a new entry by Gobsmack, another metal revival from the latest episode of Alien: Earth.

On Tik Tok there are new entries for throwbacks by Rihanna and Cardi B.

Our Future sound is high energy banger from 2 of the hottest hitmakers in dance.

Here are this weeks Essential Hits!

Lady Gaga’s latest track is off to a solid start.
No.1 on Youtube, No.2 in radio airplay/Shazam and no.6 on the midweek chart.

Sabrina Carpenter is queen of Spotify with 5 tracks in this weeks Top 10 (plus another 4 make 9 in the Spotify Top 20).

Tracks by Smashing Pumpkins and The Cure (which we very much approve of!) are new on Shazam thanks to TV appearances.

Our Future Sound is a track by Sasha Keable which has been bumbling around since the summer and getting a lot of love from Radio 1 over the last 7 days.
