Make work Christmas party memorable for the right reasons

To Britain's office staff, the annual work Christmas party is a chance to eat, drink, be merry... and, in some cases, behave inappropriately.

It's OK for your guys to let their hair down for a bit. It's heartening to see people relaxing and bonding over a mince pie.

But - and we don't want to dampen the Christmas spirit too much here mixing alcohol, a party atmosphere and a generous splash of inhibition doesn't always make for an evening of measured fun.

If things do get out of hand, our old friends 'gross misconduct' and disciplinary action' can make two pretty unwelcome party guests.

Introducing Emily Griffin, Sales and Events Manager for King Pins Cabot Circus!

Tell us about yourself! How did you come to Bristol?

I’m a huge Bristol girl- I grew up here and always loved the city. I moved away at 18 for university, then lived abroad for a year studying History in California and a year working on a cruise ship as a Performance SCUBA Diver in the Caribbean- but I always knew I wanted to come back to Bristol eventually. I moved back officially in May 2024 and have been single handedly fuelling the Bristol Pub Quiz Economy since then!

How did you end up at King Pins?

I actually found it completely by accident- after coming back to the UK, I wanted to try my hand at event organisation and the second I interviewed for King Pins I completely fell in love. I began working for the company just before we opened King Pins Cabot Circus and now I get to spend all day meeting new, incredible people, making connections, and selling the most awesome events. I’ve been interviewed on BBC Radio, hosted Tik Tok star Ilona Mayer and the Bristol Bears Women’s Team, attended the VIP Balloonist events at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, joined the Bristol Junior Chamber of Commerce and drastically increased my prosecco intake in the past nine months.
As our Head of Sales says- “your whole job is just selling fun!”

What makes a King Pins event different?

King Pins offers a venue where you connect with your friends and colleagues through our state of the art gaming: Bowling, Tech Darts, Karaoke and more. Be honest, you spend more than enough time sat in a stuffy room with your coworkers, when you go out for a team social you want to relax, have fun, and maybe do a cheeky few baby Guinness shots on an ice free curling lane! We have a 250 person capacity and are perfect for that luxury private hire blowout your company has always dreamed of. Our Christmas dates are filling up fast and our packages are great fun.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Hard to say when you’re in your dream job! Going to so many incredible networking events every week is such a privilege and I’ve made so many great connections. I love meeting new people and watching the business grow from opening night to where we are now. I’ve hosted and attended so many insane events I officially have an Instagram highlight just for my work dos! But without a doubt the best part of my job are the people. From the staff in the venue to the friends I have made networking, and especially the gorgeous girls (and the occasional man we let in) in the Bristol Sales and Business Development WhatsApp community founded by myself and my colleague Georgia (of Roxy Lanes fame). I have so much fun working with and alongside this community.

How do I contact you to talk about hosting my event at King Pins?

Best way to contact me is normally by email - [email protected]
But if you’d like to give us a call on 0113 467 2315 to discuss your event, I’m always up for a chat!
