Congratulations (and thank you!) to Claire Colman, who won our gin naming competition! Your winning name looks great on our bottles. Thank you to all who sent suggestions- they were all fab!
As it’s far from traditional and a bit quirky, we thought we’d share a little about the back story behind our little side venture.
An article about a school PTA who had created a gin, as a fundraiser, was sent to us a while ago. After some research, we found out that we wouldn’t be the first (actually in the hundreds) to take such a crazy idea on board. With the 150th anniversary and uncertainty about the school building’s future, we wanted to create a commemorative bottle that would make some past (adult) pupils, village folk, and past and present staff smile. The building itself means so much, to many people. There are companies who do this regularly for PTAs, but we thought we’d approach Wood Brothers Distillery, in Black Bourton, to help us.
Whilst thinking about a name for our gin, we stumbled upon a story about a deadly bottle of gin that was shared amongst Brize Norton villagers in the Victorian times… Fitting for the 150th anniversary. No fear this time round though- Wood Brothers Distilling Co. know what they’re doing!
Felicity French Illustration spent some of her childhood in Brize Norton and her parents are still in the village. She has very kindly designed us a label with a beautiful new illustration of the building. Thank you, Felicity!
Bottles are £28 each. All profit raised will go to the school. Pre-order forms will be available soon and a limited number of bottles will be on sale at the Village Bash. If you’re interested, please send us a message ☺️
