First announcement of many 📣

Thrilled to finally be able to announce, our wonderful Cian Eagle-Service will take the lead this Christmas 🎅🏻 playing Dexter Procter! A HUGE thank you to for being so wonderful to work with 💖

The latest home-grown, family-favourite from BBC Children’s and Education is a new adaptation of the hit children’s novel Dexter Procter: the 10-Year-Old Doctor. Written and created by BAFTA-winner Adam Kay (This is Going to Hurt), the 2 x 50-minute standalone special episodes, the first of which is airing later this year, tell the story of Dexter Procter, a 10-year-old paediatrician trying to solve – frequently disgusting – medical mysteries, save his job, and find his place in the world.

A stellar cast of comedy legends and newcomers are set to appeal to parents and children alike, with young actor Cian Eagle-Service making his screen debut as Dexter, who was able to speak at four seconds of age and is now the world’s youngest-ever doctor. Peter Serafinowicz (How To Train Your Dragon) stars as Dr Drake, Dexter’s jealous colleague who can’t stand the idea of a child working as a doctor and spends every waking second attempting to have Dexter sacked.

The series will come to iPlayer, CBBC and BBC One later this year and in 2026.
