The whole Imane Khelif (Algerian boxer) issue proves who we really are as human beings, doesn't it? The whole saga exposes how incompetent the International Olympic Committee is because this is a WOMAN, I say woman in caps because I now know who she is after doing a bit of reading & research. Khelif was previously disqualified from competing from the International Boxing Association's 2023 Women's Boxing Championships in New Delhi because she failed the testosterone & gender eligibility tests that on its own sending a message to the wider public to say she isn't a female. Coming into the 2024 Paris Olympics she already had a label & how the IOC allowed her to compete is something I don't understand (not that they should have barred her from competing coz they know who she's), there was no clarity and the Italian boxer who she fought didn't make it any easy for her when she quit in less than a minute into the fight sparking an outrage from a lot of people who called for her to never be allowed to enter the ring, "you can clearly see he is a man", her physical built suggests that he is male .... & a lot of disgusting, homophobic comments that I hope many regret to have said.
What I take from this whole thing is how far behind we are in terms of education on gender and sexuality as humans world over. I always see a lot of Africans saying the western world is more accepting of the LGBTQ+π³οΈβπ community, that is a myth. There's is laws in the west and they work on most things, people abide by the rules: they might not want to but they will as everyone is allowed to be who they are and express their feelings views. You only have to live, be in social spaces and have conversations with locals or people from a different part of the world to fully understand how these communities think about other people and their choices... I mean, we have these spaces like Facebook, Twitter, TikTok where we can hide behind the keyboard and say whatever garbage we like, it exposes us all, black white, asian, mixed race`.......
