Take a look at the venues the organisers and have a read of the ideas and ethos behind the race series.. and some of the other boring bits like race rules etc..
I like some of the bits like it doesn't matter if you paddle kneeling down and board contact is allowed 😄.

What are technical races?

We have three different races per event - distance, sprints and technical. You can probably guess what’s involved in a distance or sprint races, so what the crack with a technical (or ‘tech’) race?
In its simplest form, it’s several laps around a short course. At the last Not the N1SCOs event, the tech course was three laps of a roughly 800m course. Simples!

So what’s the catch?
That all depends on how playful the race directors are feeling! Whilst you can have a very basic course, where’s the fun in that?
We think a tech course should be twisty and turny. Once you’ve got into a rhythm, it’s time for another tight turn and paddle hard to get back up to speed, and that leads into another tight turn, then another…
It’s great fun, even if it’s type two fun 😂

A view of a technical course from last weekends Not the N1SCOs race. Tech courses involve several laps around a short course with lots of turns. Plenty of time to practice those turns for next years races 😀
