Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council has been fined after a five-year long legal battle sparked by noise complaints over a children's play area.
Chapel Council was ordered by the High Court to reduce the noise from the park in Derbyshire, in 2022, following legal action taken by a small group of residents.
However, in July, the council was found guilty of breaching the abatement order and tore down the multi-use games area (MUGA) in Memorial Park.
On Thursday, at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court, the parish council was fined £100 and ordered to pay costs of £130,000 to two complainants.
The games area and skate park was built in 2010 following a community fundraiser.
However, the facility became the subject of complaints by nearby residents.
Those residents eventually took legal action against the parish council, saying the noise - including "ball strikes, kicks and bounces", music being played and shouting - amounted to a statutory nuisance.
While the group's initial legal challenge failed, the High Court ruled in 2022 that the council must reduce the noise disturbance - but it did not have to demolish the games area.
The parish council took the decision to remove the MUGA after it was found guilty of breaching the abatement order earlier this year.
In a statement at the time, the council said it believed demolishing the site was "the most sensible course of action to abate the noise and avoid further legal costs".
A number of parents told the BBC they were "dumbfounded" by the move to demolish the play area.
At a meeting in October, the council told residents it would look at how it could improve all five parks within the parish.
