“Bangor Pier – A Victorian Treasure of North Wales”
Opened in 1896, Bangor Pier was designed by J.J. Webster and built as a landing stage for pleasure steamers on the Menai Strait. Stretching 1,500 feet (460 m) into the water, it is one of the longest surviving piers in Wales. After decades of decline, the pier was restored in the 1980s, preserving its elegant ironwork and wooden decking. Today, it stands as a Grade II listed landmark*, celebrating Bangor’s maritime heritage and Victorian engineering.
