Babyshambles - The Blinding EP - Massive Promo Poster
Well here’s a picture of the poster.. I put this up on the shambles fb for sale a while ago... for the measley price of £20…. Financially I was in a horrible place at the time… So am so glad I didn’t sell it..
Anyway this poster has. Story… The Blinding Ep was released in the UK on the 4th December 2006..
Babyshambles where on tour.. I’d been to Newcastle and Bristol to see them then
Tickets were booked for the London gig on the 7th December at the Apollo
After the gig me and my friend Sam made our way to the London Underground to get a train to King’s Cross…
When we were there we saw this poster…
As with a lot of these big advertising posters it was stuck to the wall on opposite the platform… so it’s pasted to tunnel wall…
Anyway… we were let’s say errrrr well lubricated at the time..
I couldn’t stop admiring the poster I just wanted it lol!
So we set the mission!
We would not leave until! We had the poster!
All I can say is this 😜 madness
The next 3 hours involved the following process…
We took it in turns to jump onto the train track run across to the other side.
When there we used a credit card to scrape away at the paste used to adhere the poster to the brick wall…
This took forever! And we both also realised that despite freeing the bottom of the poster from the wall that there was going to be no way we could get to the top half…
All this hard work and we wouldn’t get my poster…
So time to assess a the situation!
What would we do?
Well both of us crossed the track each time (just so your all aware we where doing this between trains)
This time my pal provided a hand bunk so I could get to the top half and scrape away to free the rest of the poster…
At 3 in the morning finally Pete was free from the glue…
And this huge advertising poster of the blinding EP was mine!
The story of this poster gets better..... whos the good looking chap in the second pic?
So few of these about an incredible writer, musician, artist and for me a true friend...
