🍂 Spotted more ladybirds lately?
Autumn has these little helpers on the move! 🐞
As the weather cools, ladybirds start looking for cosy spots to spend the winter. Different species choose different shelters, from leaf piles to garden crevices. You may even find them trying to get indoors.

Here’s how you can help them:
🌿 Leave leaf piles alone - they make perfect winter hideaways.
🏡 Found some indoors? Gently collect them with paper and a tub, and place them back outside somewhere sheltered.
💤 They’ll settle into diapause (a kind of insect hibernation) until spring.

Ladybirds are vital to our ecosystem, they’re natural pest controllers that munch on aphids.
Let’s give them a safe place to rest this winter. 💚

We have religious as well as non-religious services at Muchwood. It was a sunny autumnal day for this one and was conducted by Father Jeffrey Downie from St Luke’s RC church in Peterborough, the fastest growing Catholic church in the U.K. The funeral was arranged by Derek at Swearers in Ramsey. 💚

Simply beautiful was the perfect way to describe the wonderfully personal burial we had last week. Mr Lewis was a cabinet maker and made violins and so a 200 year old violin had pride of place on the top of a beautifully made simple untreated wooden coffin. Friends and family each bought flowers from their own gardens and there were no readings at the graveside, just the sound of violin music as Steve Bingham, conductor with the Ely Symphonia orchestra, played 3 exquisite pieces of music, surrounded by nature, to create the perfect atmosphere for friends and family to remember Mr Lewis. 💚

Last week we had another beautiful burial that captured a wonderful lady’s creative personality. Mrs Austen was a graphic designer, artist and then a lay minister but her artistic talents were to be found everywhere. Fellow ministers Jane Penn and Sarah Gower wore amazing stoles that were hand painted by Mrs Austen. Colourful one side and a more demure design on the reverse for more sombre occasions. Her well used easel was also present. As well as a beautiful purple wicker coffin decorated with flowers, eco friendly vegetable wreaths and baskets were placed on the grave afterwards, giving the deer and rabbits a feast for later 💚

An immaculate and professional service from a funeral directors at their first time visiting Muchwood last week. Led by Craig Richardson of Richardson Funeral Services / Hope Funerals in Haverhill, a lady was laid to rest peacefully amongst nature on a beautiful warm day surrounded by family and friends. 💛

Beautiful eco-friendly wreaths and a flag bearer from the Ramsey and District Royal British Legion closed a lovely service for a well loved customer as he was laid to rest at Muchwood. Service was conducted by Maggie Tate-Druiff, curate at St Thomas à Becket Church. ❤️

It is always lovely to see children attend interments at Muchwood. It helps them to understand things in a gentle way surrounded by family. Beautiful Indigo Lily was a little camera shy to start with but we got there in the end!! Pets are always welcome at Muchwood and adorable Spaniel Chewy made sure he got lots of fuss 💚💚

Today our wonderful new sign was installed. It incorporates the branding of our partners The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire and being larger, is more visible from the road. The beautiful rustic Oak also fits perfectly in the natural environment of the Muchwood site. 💚
