I saw this post from today and it totally inspired me to do the same. It’s WILD looking back through my feed - I remember each one of these years so clearly and how they were defined by new ideas, projects, what felt like breakthroughs, experiments, trials etc.
If anyone ever feels in a sense of doubt, I recommend doing the same to see how far you’ve come. I am completely self taught and took up a chalkboard hobby post university because I missed being creative. And here I am, about to step into parenthood with a business I’ve built hoping I can continue to have freedom and make it work! 🫣
Here’s a little narrative of each year:
2018 – Graduated from Brunel with a Journalism degree. In between waitressing and applying for TV jobs, I thought it’d be fun to learn how to write chalkboards… (little did I know) 🫣😆 who remembers the Christmas plaques!?
2019 – Freelancing at ITV by day, but more and more local people were trusting me with creative projects by night. My obsession started! The year I launched my first ever ‘Christmas collection’ (I used to love doing these so much!)
2020 – Lockdown meant experimenting with materials, ideas and techniques. I built my first ever website (thanks to hours of Shopify youtube videos) and made hundreds of handmade cards to help people stay connected. Who remembers these!?
2021 – Post-Covid boom! I balanced two jobs between London & Kent, worked on 100+ weddings, gave my brand a refresh, and made loads of cards. My love for window illustration also began 🫶🏼
2022 – The year of burn OUT. I did some pretty cool things, began teaching, worked on another 100+ weddings and created some pretty fun Christmas windows but this was the year I had to make changes.
2023 – A year of NEW: I discovered sign painting (and loved it), started workshops teaching hundreds of people, and landed my first in-store/brand gigs.
2024 – The hardest year, losing my beautiful Mum. But also the most eye-opening—learning to step back, protect my balance, and trust that work would be okay.
2025 – A year of pregnancy and planning. Continuing to grow with new brands and live events, while always staying rooted in what built my business.
How long have you been around!? 🙌🏼🤍
