Great to back on BBC Radio Wales earlier this week to chat about Super Furry Animals, SFA returning to the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru for the first time in 30 years!

Shortly after the release of their debut album Fuzzy Logic in 1996, the band rolled into the fields of Llandeilo in their very own techno tank and whistled the lyrics to their Saesneg songs.

This time fans can expect a unique setlist full of the Super Furries’ very best Cymraeg songs, so expect classics from Mwng to rarely played early B-sides.

Day tickets are just £25, while camping tickets are £45, and there’s a stellar support line-up of Mellt, Pys Melyn and Ynys.

Llongyfarchiadau / congratulations to Newport legends Skindred on reaching No.1 in the UK album charts with You Got This!

The MOBO Award-winning ragga-metal band fought off competition from Jessie Ware to secure top spot.

Melding huge riffs with the unmistakable charisma of frontman Benji Webbe, You Got This is their ninth album since forming in 1998.

Skindred narrowly missed out on No.1 to Cian Ducrot with their Smile album in 2023, but there was no denying them this time - da iawn bois!💪

“Libraries gave us power...”

A Design for Life by Manic Street Preachers is 30 today!

A heart-on-sleeve tribute to working class spirit and resilience, it encapsulated everything they had been trying to say since forming in the mid 1980s. Arguably the most important release of their career following the tragic disappearance of Richey Edwards, the single reached No.2 - their biggest hit at the time.

In the summer of 1995, Nicky Wire wrote a lyric influenced by Jimmy McGovern containing two potential ideas. One was The Pure Motive and the other was A Design Life - the latter’s title inspired by Joy Division’s An Ideal for Living EP.

Once it was whittled down into one piece and combined with James Dean Bradfield’s Morricone-esque riff, Mike Hedges’ huge production, a slogan heavy video and Sean Moore’s drums for the finale; the end result was pure gold.

The Manics went on to win Best Group and Best Album for Everything Must Go at the 1997 BRIT Awards.

RIP Welsh rock legend, Phil Campbell.

Born in Pontypridd in 1961, Campbell first picked up the guitar at the age of 10 thanks to his love of Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi and Jimmy Page. By the late 1970s, he had already made a name for himself locally with Cardiff heavy metal cult heroes, Persian Risk.

Worldwide fame then came calling when he joined Motörhead in 1984 (with whom he remained until Lemmy’s death in 2015) - adding his relentless riffs to classic albums like Orgasmatron.

His reputation as a thunderously loud guitarist continued in 2016 with the formation of Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons alongside his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla.

In 2019, Campbell even ventured out on his own with a brilliant record, Old Lions Still Roar featuring cameos from Rob Halford, Dee Snider and Benji Webbe.

Across more than 40 years of music, Phil Campbell helped place Welsh rock firmly on the global stage as one of heavy metal’s great riff-makers. His legacy will continue to reverberate through the amplifiers of fans and musicians alike.

🎧 EPISODE / PENNOD 27 🎧

Our latest episode features a fascinating in-depth chat with KEYS frontman, Matthew Evans.

As well as delving into Keys’ latest album Acid Communism on Libertino, he also revisited the cult classic Songs of Ignorance from his former band, Murry the Hump, and discussed the joy of music lecturing at the University of South Wales.

On the eve of its 60th anniversary, Matthew celebrated the lo-fi, avant-garde genius of The Velvet Underground & Nico, which memorably featured John Cale - arguably the most influential Welsh musician of all time.

Our showcase song is But I’m Getting Used to It by Simon Love from his forthcoming album, The One True Prince of Wales (out on Friday 3 April).

Our fab new theme tune is No I in Teams by KEYS!

Taken from their Welsh Music Prize-nominated seventh album Acid Communism via Libertino, the single is about the need to regain human connection in the digital age following the rise of conference calls during the pandemic.

Keys frontman, Matt Evans said: “The emergence of conference calls since COVID has reduced our human relationships to pixels on a screen. Avatars represent ourselves online, while we stay indoors.”

Check out the video for No I in Teams in the comments👇🏻
