It seems the 550 bus to Morecambe is being cancelled - originally thought to be from 1st November but now saying 11th October 2025.
No reason has been forthcoming but this is a very popular, well-used and necessary bus route for many so is not being withdrawn because of lack of use.
I have been in touch with local councillor Helen Chaffey, who was instrumental in getting a bus service back in Arnside.
She was unaware of the withdrawal of the service to Morecambe and is looking into it.
In the meantime she has asked people to contact her at [email protected]
There are obviously still issues with the Kendal bus service always being late due mainly to going to Carnforth and Silverdale which has also been brought to her attention.

🚧 Night-time road closures ❌ on the bypass 🚧

Our Highways Service will be undertaking important maintenance improvement works on the A591 Kendal bypass from 29 September.

Night-time road closures will be in place Monday to Friday (7pm until 6am) for up to five weeks to carry out works including carriageway patching, vehicle restraint barrier repairs, tree works and extensive road markings and stud work.

Works will be done in a number of stages, on both sides from Brettargh Holt up to Plumgarths interchange and local diversions will be well signposted with access to businesses always maintained. We thank our communities for their patience during this essential maintenance work.
