Roy Ayers, the legendary vibraphonist, composer, and producer, has passed away at 84. Known as the "King of Neo-Soul," Ayers' innovative blend of jazz, funk, and soul made an indelible mark on music history. From his groundbreaking work with Roy Ayers Ubiquity to his timeless track "Everybody Loves the Sunshine," which has been sampled over 100 times, his influence spanned across genres, inspiring artists from Dr. Dre to Alicia Keys.

Ayers’ career, which started in the 1960s hard-bop scene, left a lasting legacy of rich sound and creativity. His music continues to resonate, with his iconic vibe heard in collaborations with legends like Fela Kuti, Erykah Badu, and The Roots. Roy Ayers’ unique sound will live on through the generations he inspired.
