As mentioned last week, an Earl Sixteen track - dating back to 1980 (according to Mr. Sixteen) - is now available.
Produced by Earl Morgan and mixed by Sylvan Morris at Harry J’s studio, the tune features a rhythm you might recognize from Lacksley Castell’s ‘Jah Love Is Sweeter’ and Black Uhuru’s ‘Time to Unite’.
There are still many unanswered questions about how this rhythm did the rounds. Perhaps it’s best left a mystery.
The track appeared on the ‘Shining Star’ album, released by Vista Sounds in 1983, and also surfaced on a Tele Tech 12” in the early ‘80s. A later version was re-cut as ‘Crisis’ / ‘No Matter What the Crisis’ for producer Roy Cousins.
It’s available now on Partial Records’ Bandcamp, with an official release across other platforms coming June 6th.
