Do this now, and your summer self will thank you for it!

Instead of thinking about content every day, block out one day over the next few weeks to plan. Batch your social posts, write blogs and schedule newsletters early. It saves time and means you can actually enjoy summer without constantly wondering what to write next.

Right now, so much online content sounds the same. You can spot AI-written captions a mile off; I've even noticed some people forgetting to delete a prompt before posting!

AI can be a useful tool, but it can’t replace real conversations and genuine connections. The businesses with the strongest content are the ones that understand their audience. That's what makes people trust you. People don’t connect with perfect marketing. They connect with stories, opinions, humour, honesty and personality.

If your content is starting to sound like everyone else’s and you want your business to feel more human, I’m all ears.

A few days away in the Scottish Highlands, catching up with NV Legal and friends was exactly what I needed.

When you’re juggling work, family life and everything else in between, you don’t always realise how much mental clutter you’re carrying until you step away from your usual routine. A change of scenery has a way of clearing your mind.

Some of my best ideas for clients have come when I’m nowhere near my laptop. Walking, talking, switching off a little and giving myself space to think properly again.

It’s a reminder that good content rarely comes from forcing creativity; it comes from having the headspace to think clearly and see ideas differently. Now home with a notebook full of ideas and feeling far less screen-tired.

How inclusive is your business? Do you....

1. Add Alt text to your images. This describes the image for those using screen readers.
2. Use in multi-word hashtags. It is easier to read.
3. Add captions or subtitles to video content. 85% of videos are watched without sound.
4. Limit emojis, do not use them mid-sentence. (ChatGPT loves to splatter emojis, please don't)
5. Text is difficult to read on busy backgrounds. Overlay text onto a plain background.
6. Be wary of colour combinations. Avoid green and red or blue and yellow. They are more difficult to see for some visually impaired.

How would you describe your ideal customer?

What do they do? Where do they shop? How old are they? What is their gender? What brands do they buy? What do they read? What newspaper do they prefer? Are they employed? What industry do they work in? What are their lifestyle choices? Where do they hang out digitally?

These are a few questions to build an audience persona. You need to know your audience inside out before marketing to them.
