Did you know that 2026 is the Year of Reading? It’s one of the reasons why we have decided to support the this year with a donation of 600 of our award winning children’s books. We believe that book ownership makes a difference to outcomes for children. One in 10 disadvantaged children have no books of their own at home (Book Ownership in 2022 © National Literacy Trust 2022) which is something we want to help to change.
We’re working with business partners to fund copies of the books, with us funding 100 books, we need 25 businesses to join us and help put books directly into the hands of children. The Children’s Book Project “aims to tackle book poverty and create a fairer society where every child is able to be the proud owner of books they choose for themselves and are introduced to the transforming power of reading.”
If you want to get involved please pop me a message or email: [email protected] and be part of this very special campaign.

I love books, I’m a firm believer in book ownership and the importance of children having agency in making decisions about the kinds of books they enjoy. Having access and ownership of good quality books can have a lasting impact on children of any age and I hope that through our partnership with the Children’s Book Project we can support many more children to enjoy books and develop a lifelong love of reading.

Sundays are the best days, sometimes they feel like they stretch on forever. They’re the days where picking up a book and curling up just feels like the right way to spend the day somehow 🖤

Huge thanks to Repton Prep and to Chrissie Reeves for inviting me to speak to the children about bereavement and grief yesterday. It was touch and go with the weather but it cleared enough for me to make it there and it was a privilege to talk to the children about this subject, which can be really difficult. The children have a copy of ‘About Hedgehog’ in their library to access whenever they need it, and was donated as part of our national campaign to provide it to primary schools for free, supporting teachers, children and families with bereavement and grief. If you’d like to find out more about the campaign and want to get involved in either helping to fund it or to request your school’s free copy, then either visit the website, see our pinned post or email us at [email protected] and let’s keep the conversation going 🖤

So tomorrow I’m headed off to do a talk at a school about my bereavement book and I’ll be honest I’m a little nervous. Whilst I used to teach this is out of my comfort zone a bit as I’ll be speaking to the whole school. So, any tips anyone? How do you manage speaking to large groups?

Okay so I need your help! I’m getting my children’s gift boxes ready to launch but I’m dithering about what options to have or not to have. The gift boxes will be for children from newborn up to 8 (currently) and will be based around the books and products which I’ve curated to go with them, for babies things like our organic cotton muslins with book illustrations on and toys suitable from birth and for older children they will include wooden toys and activities. However I’m struggling on how many options to offer per age and am procrastinating as a result! I’d love to get these finalised and launched soon, so I really need your input. Please read through the images and let me know your preferences! Thank you 🫶🏻

It’s a new year, so I figured a new introduction was needed. I’m Dani, an award winning children’s author specialising in purposeful, sustainably made children’s books for early years. I write about a range of topics which include learning about taking care of our environment and nature, bereavement and grief as well as other topics such as sharing, for early years. I curate sustainable gifts for families and provide educational resources. I run workshops and offer author visits too as well as running s number of book gifting campaigns to give free access and ownership of our books to children and educational settings. I really love showcasing the small simple ways we can make a difference in the world, whether that’s through the sustainable choices we make or by helping others 🖤
If what I do resonates with you then I’d love you to tell me in the comments, I love collaborating with people and finding out how I can support your aims further too 😊

It’s 2026 and I’m starting the year with zero new year resolutions. It’s the year of going with the flow and acknowledging that the best things often come when we don’t plan them.

A sustainable christmas might not sound like fun but I can assure you it really is! And whilst we take sustainable steps, there’s no pressure to be perfect. The goal is to do what feels manageable. I’ve added in reusables bit by bit and they’ve now become part of the Christmas routines and things that I love doing, such as filling the reusable advent calendars and making the fabric Christmas crackers. Theres so much that’s handmade and now holds a sentimental place in our Christmases. The kids stockings they’ve had since they were small and most of our stockings have been handmade. The personalised bags are from which I use to store the fabric gift wrap - a different colour for each person and then on Christmas Eve they turn into Christmas Eve bags filled with pyjamas and festive treats. This year we were all made these gorgeous wool slippers - the comfiest slippers ever! There’s a comfort in the eclectic nature of things, handmade, reused, much loved and treasured. Have you tried adding sustainable swaps in to your Christmas traditions?
