He studied music at Newcastle College which not only gained him a HND in music production but also gave him the opportunity to work with other established artists such as Martin Mcaloon from Prefab Sprout, Kevin Ridley from Skyclad, and sound engineers Mickey Sweeney and Keith Nichol. Just before he graduated, he was recommended to Demolition Records where it was then that Leon broke into the music industry and was asked to put his keyboard wizardry onto a track that they had prepared. As reported by local radio stations, BBC 6 Music, and local magazine, his sound on some productions has been described as hard hitting and has old school vibes to it. At a early age, he purchased his first keyboard, which was a (YAMAHA PSS-470) and started to learn to play tunes by ear. Growing up through the 90's, he realised his passion in life was music and was influenced by many bands. This gave him an ongoing inspiration to write tracks of his own. At this time, he started to experiment with using various mod trackers, creating tracks just for fun. When he left school, he studied computer programming and gained a City & Guilds in 1993. In 1994, he completed a radio production course at Wear FM where he helped out on the Keith Laws Dance Shows at night. After graduating in radio production, he tested his own music in a local night club to gauge its response. As the DJ played Leonβs track, he was overwhelmed at the crowdβs reaction. This gave him the motivation to write more new material. After graduating in music production in 2005, he gained all the musical knowledge he needed and by this time and he had adapted his writing techniques and was more comfortable using industry standard software. Leon always works on his own in his studio; he can write music only if he's on his own and no one else is around and also likes to work through the night because there are no distractions. Leon recently had his home studio re-vamped into one big control room, ditching his vocal booth and all his previous equipment. The new room which has been built into the loft of his house has had new equipment installed and has been treated professionally for absorption and reflections with new acoustic panels built by himself and his friend.
