Experience the joy of horsemanship and make lasting friendships with ACE at Somerford Park Farm I have been involved in Adult Horse Camps at Somerford Park Farm for over 20 years, gaining a wealth of experience and sharing countless memorable

moments with fellow riders. In 2024, an exciting opportunity arose for me to host my very own camps, and so ACE Adult Horse Camp was born — with ACE standing for Achievement, Confidence and Enjoyment. We’ve taken your feedback on board and understand how important it is to have time to unwind. That’s why we’ve scaled down evening entertainment to give you more space to relax, reflect on your day, and enjoy catching up with friends, both old and new.

📌 WELCOME TO ACE Adult Horse Camp – Everything You Need to Know

At ACE Adult Horse Camp, we offer structured, supportive, high-quality training in a friendly, relaxed, non-competitive environment — designed specifically for adult riders.

From the moment you arrive at camp, you’ll receive a warm welcome and be supported throughout your stay. Our riders are incredibly friendly, and you’ll have plenty of time to relax, learn, and form lasting friendships alongside your horse.

🐴 Expert Coaching in Outstanding Facilities

All flatwork and show jumping lessons take place at the exceptional arenas at Somerford Park — well known for their superb surfaces and outstanding facilities.

Flatwork lessons are either private individual (30 mins) or max 2 riders per hour, with sessions tailored specifically to you and your horse.

Showjumping sessions are organised in small groups of up to 3 horses, allowing for focused training while still benefiting from a supportive group dynamic.

Cross-country training is held on the impressive 80 acres or the newly refurbished grassroots training field at Somerford Park. XC groups have a maximum of 4 riders per session to ensure safety, quality coaching and a positive learning experience. The specific XC location will always be confirmed prior to camp.

We usually ride twice a day — morning and afternoon — giving you a full and rewarding training experience.

Before camp, we gather detailed information during booking so riders are carefully grouped according to ability and goals. Where possible, we create a tailored programme to suit your interests and capabilities.

A professional photographer is in attendance — no need to pre-book — capturing memorable moments and action shots throughout camp 📸

🐎 Bringing Your Horse

Riders bring their own horses, and some choose to bring more than one. Stabling can be arranged for multiple horses per rider — please discuss this with ACE Adult Horse Camp when booking.

Throughout camp, trainers monitor both horse and rider fitness to ensure neither oversteps the mark. Safety is always paramount.

🦺 Safety First – Always

Your enjoyment depends on feeling safe and supported.

Suitable protective clothing and hats must be worn when riding.

Riders are discouraged from taking unnecessary risks.

If you feel unsure, you are encouraged not to continue.

Coaches will always prioritise safety and confidence-building.

We create an environment where you can challenge yourself appropriately — without pressure.

🤝 A Relaxed, Friendly Atmosphere

Our camps are entirely non-competitive, allowing riders to focus on development, enjoyment and confidence.

We welcome around 52 riders at each camp, with many travelling from further afield to join us — creating a fantastic, sociable and supportive group.

We pride ourselves on maintaining a relaxed vibe, and you can choose optional services to personalise your experience and make your camp the best it can be.

ACE Adult Horse Camp is ideal for:

• Riders looking to improve
• Those bringing on a young horse
• Moving up the competition ladder (Intro and upwards)
• Stepping onto the competition ladder (First BE/Dressage/SJ etc.)
• Cementing a new horse-and-rider partnership
• Kick-starting both horse and rider
• Socialising with friends — new and old
• Enjoying quality, focused time with your horse

🍽 Residential Camps & Camp Life

At residential camps, we begin with a group welcome to explain facilities and activities.

All meals for attendees are arranged with outside caterers, so you can concentrate on settling your horse and enjoying the experience — no cooking required.

Alongside riding, there are interesting talks and demonstrations, with full camp details sent to you shortly before the event.

💫 Be Ready for a Brilliant, Busy Experience

You’ll be kept active, motivated and inspired — while still having plenty of time to relax, socialise and enjoy the atmosphere.

ACE Adult Horse Camp is about quality training, confidence building, friendship, and making wonderful memories with your horse.

We can’t wait to welcome you 🐴

| As a driver, you share the road not just with other vehicles, but with vulnerable road users—including horse riders. Horses are large, powerful animals, but they can be easily startled. A sudden noise or movement could cause them to panic, putting the rider, the horse, and you at serious risk.

Here’s how you can help keep everyone safe:

🐴 Slow Down - When you see a horse on or near the road, reduce your speed immediately. Pass wide and slow—ideally at no more than 10-15 mph.

🐴 Give Plenty of Space - Leave at least a car’s width between your vehicle and the horse. If it’s safe to do so, move to the opposite side of the road.

🐴 Be Patient - Never rev your engine, honk your horn, or try to overtake quickly. Wait until it’s completely safe and the rider has signaled that it’s okay to pass.

🐴 Watch for Signals - Riders may use hand signals to communicate with you. Respect these signals—they’re trying to keep everyone safe.

🐴 Avoid Sudden Movements or Noise - Loud music, shouting, or sudden braking can spook a horse. Keep things calm and steady.

🐴 Be Extra Alert in Rural Areas - Horses can appear suddenly, especially around bends or in country lanes. Always be prepared to slow down.

🐴 Remember - Horse riders have a legal right to use the road. A little patience and courtesy can prevent accidents and save lives.

Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone—on two wheels, four wheels, or four hooves.
