Senator Ned Nwoko on Sunday said he feels sorry for men with one wife, insisting that polygamy provides men greater stability and balance. When asked how he copes with managing four wivesβsomething many men find nearly impossible- Nwoko hesitated for a while before reacting.
βThat is a different topic for discussion on another day. Yes, every man should do that. The example I give is this: just imagine telling you to stand on one foot or leg. You know how difficult it is. But to stand on two, three, four is much more balanced. Thatβs just the example I give. So I feel sorry for those who have one wife because itβs difficult to stand on one leg,β he stated.

Temu and the Chinese Miracle.
I was speaking with my European friend when he made a joke about the temu-version of a product he had just purchased from a store. By Temu-version, he meant a sub-standard quality or what Nigerians often described as what you ordered versus what you got.
Over the past few months, there have been several trends and threads on all of Mark Zuckerberg's villages and Elon Musk street making fun of shopping from Temu because many persons have had disappointing experiences shopping from Temu. In business, this is considered mass-scale debranding and demarketing, big enough to bring down their business but as history has shown, this does not work when it has to do with the Chinese.
In the early 2000s, when Chinese products began to flood the market, people said the same things about the quality. Made in China was used to describe substandard products and goods. Remember China phones? those poor imitations of western technology whose ringing tone could wake up the dead? Remember how we made fun of Chinese products? Look at us today, look at the world today, everybody now wants to order from China. China now controls or dominate a large chunk of global trade and is the world's headquarters for manufacturing also known as the World's factory.
What happened?
The Chinese are not the type of people that gives up easily. They get better and better. They adapt so well and given their advantage in production and posture of their government in supporting Chinese businesses masked under an aggressive state capitalism, they are bound to break through.
You mock them today, you study them tomorrow.
Despite the barrage of online attacks, Temu is gradually pushing through, advancing its position and expanding its market share in Nigeria. Quietly, many Nigerians are now ordering from Temu and where Amazon failed, Temu might just succeed because more than the Americans, the Chinese understand the African market. They will go into the "poto poto" with you and get the business done.
Have you noticed how they have collaborated with different influencers here on social media where each of the influencer markets the Temu brand in a video that is sponsored to reach more people? All the ads are running concurrently.
Look at how Opay took over the Nigerian market. Look at Tiktok despite all the challenges, it is now like the favourite social media for younger Nigerians. For now, it may be just buzz but with the Chinese system of long term planning, rapid adaptation and state-support scaling, Temu will take over the e-commerce market in Nigeria all things being equal except something drastic happens.
For a company that was launched in 2022, rising to become the world's number two e-commerce site in three years, a feat that took other global brands decades to achieve is another story in the chronicles of Chinese economic miracle.
We have to pay attention to what they do right. There is a reason why Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yu wanted to have more Chinese in Singapore. Look at Singapore today. There is a value system they have that is making these economic miracles happen in a short time and it will not be a bad thing to copy what works.
NDLEA Storms Lagos Nightclub, Arrests Pretty Mike and Over 100 Others in Alleged Drug Party
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have raided a popular nightclub in Lagos, arresting over 100 individuals, including socialite and club owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, targeted Proxy Nightclub located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island. According to a statement released by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the raid was carried out following credible intelligence that a drug-themed party was being held at the venue.
Babafemi disclosed that NDLEA operatives had infiltrated the club around 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, blending in with the crowd before moving in to disrupt the event at about 3 a.m. on Sunday. The agency said the operation was executed in line with its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
During the raid, cartons of illicit substances such as Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and canisters of laughing gas were seized from partygoers and the clubβs storage area. All suspects, including Pretty Mike, were taken into custody for screening and further investigation.
The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to curbing drug abuse and illicit trafficking across entertainment venues in Nigeria, warning that such operations would continue to intensify in major cities nationwide.

National Assembly Agrees to Create an Additional State in South-East, Citing Equity and Fairness
In a rare show of unity, lawmakers from both the Senate and House of Representatives have reached a consensus to create an additional state in Nigeriaβs South-East region.
The decision followed a series of deliberations within the ongoing constitutional review process, with legislators agreeing that the demand from the region aligns with the principles of equity, justice, and fairness.
Currently, the South-East remains the only geopolitical zone with five states β Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo β while the North-West has seven states and the remaining four zones each have six. This imbalance has long been a point of contention among leaders and stakeholders from the region, who have consistently called for the creation of an additional state to ensure equal representation and access to federal resources.
During the joint session, Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central) formally moved a motion advocating for the new stateβs creation, emphasizing that national cohesion and balanced development required addressing regional disparities. His motion was seconded by Ibrahim Isiaka (APC, Ogun State), a move that underscored bipartisan support across party and regional lines.
The proposal received unanimous approval from members of the joint constitutional review committee β a significant step toward amending the 1999 Constitution to accommodate the new state. While details of the proposed stateβs name and boundaries are yet to be disclosed, analysts see this as a breakthrough moment in addressing the long-standing agitation of the South-East people for greater inclusion in Nigeriaβs federal structure.
If successfully passed and ratified, the new state will bring the South-East to parity with other zones, potentially easing regional tensions and fostering a stronger sense of national balance.
