Happy New Year!

Today lots of people will be comparing the highlights of 2025. And I sincerely hope there are lots of highlights in your life to share. But behind the 12 highlights could be many more non Instagram worthy moments that may or may not have been shared. And that’s ok too.

I hope this year is filled with love and happiness.

Our new year began with a mini kids party with family which was super cute but ended being up at midnight with my baby being sick all night. Let’s hope being vomited on has the same luck as bird poo!

at Christmas is a festive must.

As locals, we absolutely love Warwick Castle but it is even more magical at Christmas.

We absolutely love the set around the castle grounds to enchanted music and each year gets better and better. There was even carolers, singers, ponies and the snow queen!

And what is more Christmassy than ice skating with the castle backdrop behind you?!

Don’t worry if you haven’t managed to fit it in before Christmas, it is on until the 4th January. Thank me later!

Colonel Conker was amazing and full of fun and excitement.

We played games, sang songs and she knew so much about the children that it felt truly magical.

A light trail with a difference: Lanterns of the Wild is a wonderful immersive lantern trail around

They’re running it on selected evenings until 22 February 2026!

Prices start from £19 for adults and £13.75 for
kids and under 3d are free.

The trail took us over 2 hours and it just got better and better- I’ve saved the best displays for you to enjoy (as my battery went!)

🎅SANTA'S TEST FLIGHTS - UPDATE TIMES🦌

Kids starting to question the existence of Santa?

Take them outside and show them one of his test flights.

It's actually the International Space Station and will be moving pretty quickly, but is usually easy to spot.

We came up with this idea a few years ago, completely by chance. We were doing a spot of stargazing just before Christmas and happened to spot the space station. At this point, Elliot was 9 and starting to ask questions so, without even thinking, Craig told him it was Santa. When Elliot asked why he was a few weeks early, he covered for this by telling him it was a test flight.

This will always appear in the West/South West and move towards the East, moving at around 17,500 mph. You should be looking for a bright white light, similar to a star, but moving very quickly. Also, if it's cloudy, it will not be visible.

These timings are based on sightings from Newcastle and may vary slightly for other areas.

This post will be updated every week until Christmas.

Statfold’s Magical Santa Express is a wonderful train journey to the North Pole.

🚂We had a wonderful evening travelling on the steam train to Santa’s magic home.

There was plenty to do to fill the evening:
- singing reindeer
- snow
- fairground rides
- gingerbread decorating
- reindeer food making
- soft play
- Meeting santa
- Choosing a toy from the toy shop.

Prices start at £27.50 or £12 for under twos.

We would recommend choosing an evening slot to enjoy the magical lights.
