Echo City's 'UNION', produced by the legendary Tchad Blake, who recorded the whole thing via two tiny mics in his ears - a dynamic, interactive binaural recording technique that he pioneered. Justly seen by the band as a collaboration, given Tchad's approach was so much a performance in itself, the music lay on a DAT tape for over 20 years before being rediscovered. XA have released this wonderful cut as a public duty frankly - the music is a journey which you can now take through one man's pair of ears at long last.

Giles Perring's World Organ sound piece has been installed at Hulabhaig on the Isle of Lewis, alongside his photographic, video and text work - a collaboration with Andy Metcalf and Helm Arts. On til the 5 August - it's a chance to experience the piece in full surround sound in an AMAZING acoustic space.

Here's another fantastic musician I have been able to bring to my live project 'Giles Perring & The Exchange', which debuts at Dunoon Burgh Hall on Saturday 10 July. I first met Sarah Homer when playing with composer Richard Chew and La Folia Music many years ago. She is a reeds player who works a great deal, with orchestras [eg Bilbao Symphony Orchestra] in theatre, such as Shakespeare's Globe and on recordings. I have brough Sarah into quite a few of my projects, especially where I need someone who is brim full of energy and humour, seems to be able to play anything I throw at her, deciphers my ideas, set me straight on my crappy notation and improvises superbly regardless of genre. She is the clarinet player on the magnificent 'Poets & Lighthouses' by Albert Kuvezin & YatKha, and she also subsequently worked here on Jura when I produced Aline Frazão's acclaimed 'Insular'.

Tickets are on sale at Dunoon Burgh Hall for the debut gig for a new group I've been able to bring together to play music I;ve written.
