Kebatu, an Ethiopian national, was convicted in September of a series of s*xual offences: specifically, the s*xual assault of a 14-year-old girl and the s*xual assault of a woman.
• He was sentenced to 12 months in prison and was added to the UK s*x offenders’ register for 10 years.
• He had been housed (as an asylum seeker) at the Bell Hotel in Epping at the time of the offence.
• On Friday (24 Oct 2025) morning, he was accidentally released from HMP Chelmsford instead of being transferred to immigration detention or deported.
• The release appears to have been due to administrative / categorisation error: Kebatu was wrongly processed as a standard prisoner release on licence rather than the correct deportation/immigration removal.
• After release he boarded a train: Chelmsford to Shenfield to Stratford (arriving ~1.12pm) then onwards into London.

A teacher has been banned from his profession for life after he "mock£d Islam" at a school in Dorset.
Alex Lloyd was the head of sixth form at The Bishop of Wi******er Academy in Bournemouth when he made comments during a lesson about "honour K!ll!n"
The science teacher admitted to telling a Muslim student "she would have been k!ll£d" for her outfit had she been in Iran.

He told another to "pay attention" because the topic was particularly relevant in "their culture".

the 51-year-old sarcastically referred to Islam as the "religion of peace" during the discussion

He told one student to "imagine this was your mum being k!ll£d" and was accused of targeting certain pupils during the lesson, using their family members to talk about what would happen if they committed adultery.
Mr Lloyd told two students that honour k!ll!n were "happening mainly because of [their] culture".
