🎧 A Cwmbran singer/ songwriter has released his first album after getting back into music following a break in his teenage years.
Trystan Hughes, 20, has released Mixed Signals on both Spotify and Apple Music. It was recorded in Nathan (Brighty) Bright’s Creative Sound Hub studio in Oakfield.
The former Cwmbran High School pupil told Cwmbran Life: “I’ve wanted to do music for years.
“About half a year ago, I thought, ‘you know, I’m going to get back into it’.
“Life got in the way as it does. People around me were saying, ‘give it a go again.’
"I’m glad I did. It’s experimental, my own style. The way I describe it is campfire-esque.
“A bit of folk, lively, happy songs. It’s got everything, vocal, guitar beats, everything. I only write when I’ve got a message to tell.”
The acting student and former Congress Youth Theatre member is now studying in West Wales.
He said ‘Brighty’ has “been a massive help. He was fantastic to be fair. He’s got a lot of experience and it could tell.”
We spoke on the phone this week, with a relieved Trystan telling me: “We got there in the end.”
