The NPHA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has reported a rise in Mpox cases in Sierra Leone. As of 24th May 2025, there have been 3,059 confirmed cases, 1,685 recoveries, and 13 deaths (0.4% fatality rate).

Key Points:
Mpox spreads through close contact (skin-to-skin, respiratory droplets, contaminated materials, and s*xual contact).

Symptoms include fever, rash, swollen lymph nodes, body aches, and sometimes ge***al lesions.

Most cases are mild, but severe illness can occur in vulnerable individuals.

Public is advised to:

Avoid close contact with those showing symptoms.

Maintain hand hygiene.

Avoid sharing personal items.

Practice safe s*x.

Seek medical help if symptoms arise or call 117.

Over 41,000 people have been vaccinated. Authorities urge calm and cooperation to control the outbreak
