Currently reviewing the transcript of Lola McEvoy’s Maiden Speech in the Commons. Amongst other things, Lola said:

“Representation matters, and I will use my platform to highlight the issues facing women in the town. Issues such as low-paid work, additional care responsibilities, the childcare crisis, menopause discrimination, maternity services and poor paternity rights. I will also be a champion for women’s health and support services.”

We will (a) reach out to the MP for clarification on her objectives for specific topics, and (b) request details on how outcomes, successes, and failures are being measured and communicated to her constituents. This is about promoting transparency and addressing important issues—not about attacking the MP.

Blocking Constituents on Social Media – We will reach out to the MP to request clarification on her social media policy, particularly concerning the blocking of constituents. Many Darlington residents have already been blocked by this MP, which we believe is an attempt to avoid public scrutiny—a practice that is inherently undemocratic. Unfortunately, we recognise that this behaviour is not uncommon.

Ads and Polls – To increase engagement, this page will run ads to reach more people and encourage discussion on the topics being discussed. We will also conduct polls on specific issues, particularly focusing on the Labour Party Manifesto, Parliamentary votes, and any other Darlington-related matters that the group may want to weigh in on.

Content Sharing - The internet is a vast reservoir of information, opinions, and knowledge that extends beyond mainstream media. We aim to share content from a variety of sources to offer alternative perspectives that are often both intriguing and insightful.
