This is what a day looks like making a song. Lots of trial and error but a great sounding finished product. Thanks to my drummer and lead guitarist for his skills in the studio today.

Today I’ve started some critical listening of some of my favourite bands, artists, albums, songs, with the aim of hearing those special/interesting moments I’ve either not noticed or taken for granted. I believe being aware of more of these magic moments, either in arrangement or production choices, will lead to lots of inspiration for future creativity. Like the bass in Something by The Beatles. Always loved it but I’ve never noticed how far right it was panned. Same with the drums in Come Together. So my question to you if you’ve read this far… is tell me a song you love and why? Could be the melody, instrumentation, sounds, tempo or something more subtle like the sound of a kick drum or backing vocal. I’d love to have a listen to the songs and enjoy some of your special musical moments.

Another fun afternoon here at IO. Lovely to have Rebecca and Charlotte Lee in the studio. Charlotte is an amazing singer and songwriter and we worked on her Christmas song and even managed to record a nice demo. Well done Charlotte.
