Back home, my husband loved using the water heater for his showers, so I cleverly told him that constantly turning it on would increase our electricity bill. I jokingly offered to boil water for him instead if he wanted hot water. He wasn’t thrilled about it, but he agreed.

Now, here in the UK, whenever he’s not rushing to work, he fills up the bathtub and soaks in it for 30 minutes to an hour. But when the water bill arrives, he complains that it’s too high! So, I told him he should switch to using the shower instead. After all, many Brits believe showers waste water and prefer bucket baths to save on their water bill—some even bathe only once every three days! Funny enough, some Nigerians here have started doing the same.

That’s how my husband got upset, saying I won’t let him enjoy his life. Meanwhile, I’m just being a responsible wife, trying to save money, and now he’s calling me stingy!

Honestly, pleasing a man is no easy task!
