TRAGIC LOSS AS SHEFFIELD COUPLE DIE IN SPAIN WILDFIRES

A Sheffield family has been left devastated after a couple died in the devastating wildfires that swept through southern Spain last week.

Pete and Fran Gillam, who lived in the village of Bedar, were reported missing after the fires broke out. Their daughters have now confirmed that Spanish police informed them their parents did not survive.

The wildfires have claimed at least 13 lives, including five British nationals, after scorching temperatures, strong winds and extremely dry conditions caused the flames to spread rapidly across parts of the Almeria region.

🗝️Five businesses have been handed the keys to their new premises inside the new waterside development at Staveley Basin on Chesterfield Canal.

📈We've led the project to build The Moorings, offering a mixture of office, retail and leisure space, as part of the £25 million government-funded regeneration programme Staveley Town Deal.

And we're pleased to have welcomed in the following businesses:

Two of the ground floor retail units are also under offer, including the restaurant /bistro space which overlooks the canal basin and has an outdoor dining area.

Just 3 ground floor retail units and 1 first floor office are still available to lease at the development which has also benefitted from improved access with a new road and footpath to encourage more visitors to make recreational use of the canal for walking, cycling and boating.

| Can you help us find Martin? | Reference 671 of 14 July

Have you seen Martin, who is missing from Matlock?

The 59-year-old was last seen in Firs Parade at around 10am on 28 June however we only received a report of a concern for his safety earlier today (14 July).

Martin is described as being white, around 5ft 10ins tall and of an average build with black hair which is going grey.

He was last seen wearing beige trousers and a t-shirt with trainers.
