SUBJECT: WITHDRAWAL FROM THE APEX COALITION TALKS

The All Peoples Party – Sobeyaa (APP-Sobeyaa) wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the APEX Coalition and all participating parties for the time, effort, and commitment invested in the coalition building process.

Following bilateral engagements, however, we regret to inform you that those discussions have not produced the desired outcome, vis-à-vis the power-sharing agreement that was already made by the parties/stakeholders.

In the absence of consensus on this and other outstanding matters, and consistent with the principle that prior agreed decisions may only be changed by consensus, APP-Sobeyaa has therefore taken the decision to WITHDRAW FROM THE APEX COALITION TALKS.

We remain grateful for the engagement and wish the APEX Coalition and its constituent parties well in their continued efforts towards building a coalition.

Touba Marrie, Data Scientist and Mathematician, has shared an analysis of the 2026 Gambia Participates presidential opinion poll, highlighting important points that Gambians should consider before drawing conclusions from the poll figures.

The poll, conducted among 1,556 registered voters, shows that Gambians are most concerned about the economy and rising cost of living, followed by security, healthcare, electricity and water, employment and corruption.

Another important figure: 17% of respondents remain undecided meaning there is still a significant portion of voters who could influence the eventual outcome.

The analysis also raises questions about sample sizes, regional representation and changing political alliances.

THE BOTTOM LINE:
Polls can create headlines, but they don't decide elections.

What do YOU think are election polls reliable, or should voters wait for the ballot box?

A major labour dispute is unfolding at Alport Banjul, with hundreds of workers reportedly backing a vote of no confidence against Managing Director Salih Levent Kaçar and demanding his removal within five working days.

Workers, including staff at the Banjul Shipyard, have raised concerns over unresolved issues involving staff loans, scholarships and training, overtime, shifts, salaries and allowances, as well as delays linked to the 2026 staff budget.

The workers say this is not a fight against Alport, the government or the port concession their concerns are specifically directed at the company's leadership.

And now comes the warning: five working days.

If no meaningful action is taken, the association says workers could consider further industrial, administrative or legal action.

What do you think should management act before the situation escalates?
