✨ Words of Affirmation

1. 🕊️ Teachability & Submission

Affirmation:
From now on, I (include your name), and my wife will remain teachable and submissive to godly counsel.
We will be humble, gentle, and quick to listen to one another in love.
We will never let pride shut our hearts to truth.
📖 James 1:19 – _“Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”_

2. 💞 Respect & Mutual Honor

Affirmation:
We will never turn each other down. Even when instructions are painful, we will obey for the sake of peace and the teachings of Christ. We will present our concerns later in humility, not in arrogance.
📖 _Ephesians 5:21 “Submitting to one another in the fear of God.”_

3. 🌹 Sacrificial Love & Humility

Affirmation:
Even if it is not convenient and though I may have a thousand reasons, I will choose humility. I will listen, yield, and honor my spouse, knowing that Christ is glorified when we walk in love.
_📖 Philippians 2:3 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.”_

4. 👑 Financial Independence & Respect

Affirmation (for wives):
No matter my level of earning or financial independence, I will never use it as a yardstick to dishonor or disrespect my husband. He remains the leader of my home and the pilot of our destiny in Christ.
_📖 Ephesians 5:33 – “Let the wife see that she respects her husband.”_

5. 🔥 Christlike Unity

Affirmation:
We declare that our marriage will be built on Christ.
We will seek His wisdom daily, remain open to correction, and embrace the discipline of love.
Our home will be a testimony of unity, humility, and grace.
_📖 Colossians 3:16 – “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another…”_

The Bible helps us to overcome temptation
( ‘‘How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.’’Psalm 119:9 NIVWhen we give in to temptation, it’s easy to blame other people and our environment. ‘Women dress too provocatively today…Men are too sexually aggressive…The media is too explicit.’ These statements may be true, but they don’t help us to overcome the tempter’s tactics. Humorist Will Rogers is attributed with saying, ‘Things aren’t what they used to be, and probably never were!’ Rose-coloured glasses can be deceptive when it comes to looking back. Satan, our enemy, hasn’t altered his tactics. They still work because human nature hasn’t changed. David learned painfully that Bathsheba’s bath routine didn’t cause his failure. Owning responsibility for his behaviour, he prayed, ‘I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against…You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight’ (Psalm 51:3-4 NKJV). Notice two important lessons David learned: 1) He discovered that forgiveness, restoration, and freedom begin by repenting and taking responsibility for your actions. 2) He also learned that the way to maintain power over your lustful nature lies in frequent time spent in God’s Word, not your own efforts. ‘How can a young person stay on the path of purity?’ God’s answer isn’t mystifying or hard to understand. His universal solution is, ‘By living according to your word.’ David’s new attitude and purity of heart came from practising this truth: ‘I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you’ (Psalm 119:11 NIV).
