It’s GCSE results day. A reminder that grades don’t define your limits.

I left school with just 2 GCSEs – Maths and English.

Yet I went on to:

Build a successful career in financial services in the Isle of Man at the age of 27
Leave at 43 with over £130,000 in the bank
Buy a flat outright for cash within 6 months of moving to Edinburgh (saving over £118,000 in rent)

Not many people know that I do a little more than consumer rights work.

I’m also Company Secretary for a dog boarding business. I helped a school friend incorporate the company and get it off the ground from scratch.

I take care of the compliance, accounts, and all the filings (including Corporation Tax).

I’m delighted to share that this week Amanda has been awarded a 5 ⭐ licence from Northumberland County Council for her home boarding business.

I’m away on Friday to see her and the set-up in person. Proof that hard work and dedication always pay off!

CONSUMER TIP OF THE DAY
Traders cannot rely on "trade p/x sale"/"sold as seen" to deny you a right to a remedy. S31 Consumer Rights Act 2015 states that any contract term that excludes or restricts a trader's liability is not binding on the consumer.
