‘A maple soaked cathedral.’

A semi-unusual perspective taken at dusk, of the west end of Ely Cathedral and its illuminated Galilee Porch, with the twisted Snake Bark Maple* in the foreground.

A shot that’s been in my mind for quite some time, and this evening I pulled the trigger while taking a peaceful stroll around town.

‘Distorted reminiscing.’

A lightly softened, partially-hazed summery view through the wildflowers and over the moat surrounding Oxburgh Hall.

The weather here today has become rather glum and so for my own benefit, and perhaps yours too, I’ve created something bright and colourful to help lift the spirits.

Hopefully blue skies will be on the horizon sometime soon.

‘Dream together.’

With inspiration from the wonderful Mary Hogan Art, who reminded me that today is ‘World Dream Day.’

I had been creating these two shots taken in Sheringham; one showing silhouettes of my kids looking out to sea at sunset, while the other is simply of a small wooden boat perched on the slipway in readiness for its next voyage.

Combining them seemed to work quite well for this occasion. Again, thank you to Mary for the inspiration. 🫶🏼

‘Rotundus architecture.’

Created this evening after capturing the shot a few months ago, of the neoclassical domed Rotunda at Ickworth House in Suffolk.

The Estate is a fabulous place to visit, drink tea, eat cake, and explore the surrounding pasture and woodland.

I love the design and shape of this prominent structure.

A recent quiet evening stroll rewarded me with this magnificently complex sky, with huge dark billowing clouds shielding the bright evening sunset.

The River Great Ouse to the left, and the silhouette of Ely Cathedral to the right.

‘Tranquil beauty, at Monk’s Lode.’

Another day, another swan…
Perhaps I should apologise for this recent influx of (subjectively) beautiful captures. But, I hope that you might forgive me.

This one taken today at Monk’s Lode. I just loved the autumnal crispness and clarity of the blue sky and the reflection, and the narrow boat, and of course the beautiful swan. It all just seemed right.

‘Fog, in the city’.

A little something I’ve created following a very foggy morning, a few months ago now, while in London.
I only stumbled upon the shot today, and I felt the urge to do something with it.

I caught the scene while looking up through the trees, at the shrouds of fog slowly lifting away from the surrounding buildings.

It’s quite minimalist, and subdued in colour.

My mind took me to what you see here. From a sun-kissed Mrs Swan preening herself under the midday light, to a rain-kissed dreamy alternative.

Much as she tried, she just couldn’t shift that pesky feather from her beak. But, I really think it looks kinda cute.

‘Autumnal colours, from the riverside.’

Watching a pair of swans on the River Lark (near Ely) this lunchtime, my camera awaited one to paddle into the sun’s bright reflection.
And eventually, after much self-preening, they did. 🙂

My edit includes a more autumnal colour palette, and a softening of the textures. I very much hope that you might like it.
