How my journey played out from 2019 to 2024 🙌🏼⁣

Looking back to where I was 5 years ago it’s truly quite hard to believe how much my life has changed.⁣

The main lesson I have learnt:⁣

Don’t expect results if you’re not prepared to do the work.⁣

Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds 💪🏼⁣

Big changes take time.⁣

Social media will have you believe that you can completely transform your entire physique in 4-8 weeks. Whilst you can make big changes with hard work over short time frames, some things such as building muscle take time, consistency and effort.⁣

The difference between this before and after shot with Chris is about 3 years. ⁣

3 years of training 3-4 times a week at the gym, going through phases of dieting down and increasing weight, specifically focusing on getting stronger and adding new tissue.⁣

With anything in life it’s rare that the best results come from quick wins. If you start your journey expecting everything to happen overnight you’ll only be disappointed and end up frustrated.⁣

The most important thing is to know that you’re on the right path. That the decisions you are taking every day and putting you one step closer to the big goal you want to achieve 💪🏼⁣

5️⃣ Things that I would do differently if I was starting my journey from scratch.⁣

One thing I encourage all of my clients to do on their check ins is reflect on their week. To think about what they could do differently if they found themselves in the same situation again that would allow them to handle things in a more positive way.⁣

My fitness journey started over 5 years ago and since then I’ve gone through various dieting and weight gaining phases. With that experience I wanted to share what I would do differently if I was starting again from scratch and wanted to see great results 💪🏼⁣

Are you prepared to work hard?⁣

Big goals mean being prepared to get out of your comfort zone. For a lot of my life this is exactly where I sat, never challenging myself or going to a place that truly felt hard.⁣

When you want to see big change in your life you have to be prepared to make sacrifice, and I won’t lie, at times it’s hard.⁣

You might feel hungry, low on energy, you de-motivated or just not up for it.⁣

Winners find a way and losers find an excuse.⁣

I truly believe that you can see huge change without the need to turn your entire life upside down. But if you think you can change your life and it’s going to be easy then you need to change your mindset.⁣

So for those of you reading this who are turning up every day, ticking boxes, grinding and making sacrifice… Even if you don’t feel like you’re where you want to be right now, keep going. You’re doing great 💪🏼⁣

People start coaching for different reasons. For guidance, for accountability, for clarity, to be pushed beyond their limits. ⁣

Rewinding all the way back to 2021 when Ashton and I first spoke and she made the decision to come on board with coaching she was in a position where she wanted to make big changes to her life. ⁣

She was lacking in confidence, low in self-belief and thought that her path in life had already been carved out for her. In her own words, she was always going to be a “big girl”.⁣

In the 4 years we worked together I saw Ashton break down numerous barriers, achieve goals she would’ve never thought were possible and prove to herself what she can achieve even when she had a lot going against her. ⁣

When you look at someone’s before and after picture you see a physical change. What you don’t see is the complete lifestyle, confidence and mindset transformation someone has been through.⁣

Ashton has come so far since that day 4 years ago when we spoke on Zoom and I’m proud that she now feels ready to go at it alone and maintain her results for life 💪🏼⁣

In a lot of cases coaching is about getting people to a stage where they don’t feel like they need you any longer and it’s a good feeling when you know that’s happened. Good luck Ashton and thank you for letting me be part of your journey!

Progress pictures taken for day 1️⃣ of the summer shred ☀️⁣

When I did my photoshoot back in September I weighed in at 73kg. This morning my bodyweight was 87kg, a 14kg jump over the past 6 or so months. ⁣

This weight gain has been very much deliberate as I’ve looked to slowly push my bodyweight up in a calorie surplus whilst training hard at the gym with the goal of adding new muscle tissue. ⁣

The reality of building muscle is that you can’t be lean all year round. Now that doesn’t mean you should be putting on ridiculous amounts of fat as this will negatively impact your ability to put on muscle beyond a certain point, however if you’re thinking you can keep your abs 365 days a year and see significant changes to the way that you look then you’re going to be disappointed.⁣

On social media I share a lot of pictures from my photoshoots when I’m at my leanest however this is not an accurate reflection of how I look year round. I think it’s important for me to share these photos too as it shows what’s really involved in the journey. ⁣

I don’t feel particularly comfortable & confident when I look how I do right now but I know when the fat is stripped off it’ll have been worth the hard work 💪🏼⁣

The best way to slow down your progress long term is to persistently surround yourself with people whose goals don’t match your ambition.⁣

Trying to change habits and hit bit goals is hard work. It requires sacrifice and it requires discipline. ⁣

When you spend the majority of your time around people who don’t share the same drive as you to move forward and to make changes it can be incredibly challenging and demotivating.⁣

Over the years I’ve tried to make a habit of putting myself around people who push me forward to be the best I can be. People who challenge me to raise my standards every day and play a bigger game.⁣

The difference it’s made to my career and physique changed everything.⁣

Reflecting on last years photoshoot prep! The first picture was the start and the second was the morning of the shoot.⁣

As I get ready to start my next cut on Monday I wanted to share the basic principles that I applied to see the fat loss results I was pushing for. ⁣

1️⃣ Consistency with my diet ⁣

Throughout my prep I faced events and challenges like we all come across. During that time ensuring I stayed consistent and didn’t allow myself to be pulled from pillar to post helped massively with speeding up the rate of progress I was making.⁣

2️⃣ Hitting a steps goal⁣

When it comes to fat loss steps can make a world of difference. The calories burned from a higher step count will push you further into a deficit and help shred fat throughout your diet.⁣

3️⃣ Cardio⁣

Cardio was a great tool to keep my energy expenditure levels high and using it throughout my cut, especially when progress started to slow helped me massively.⁣

4️⃣ Workouts⁣

Training hard 3-4 times a week lifting weights. The style and intensity of training didn’t change at all throughout my cut. The goal was to bring the best look I could and that meant continuing to hit the gym hard!⁣

5️⃣ Most importantly… Consistency!⁣

I turned up, ticked the boxes that needed to be ticked and made sure I kept showing up even when I didn’t want to. Dieting is not always easy but when you start asking more of yourself the results will come through. ⁣

If I could describe this week with one word it would be stressful 😅⁣

Poor Remy hurt his foot Wednesday and the vets were worried it could be a symptom of something a lot more serious which they aren’t able to test for.⁣

Thankfully it looks like it’s on the mend and he’s in good spirits. We both love our animals so much and when they give you a cause for concern it really makes it so hard to stay focused on anything else.⁣

So it’s safe to say that this hasn’t been my most productive week, but that’s ok. Life comes at you at times and I’ve just focused on doing what I could in the moment to keep ticking over. We’ll be full steam ahead again soon 🙌🏼⁣

We’ve got a busy weekend planned and my parents are coming over and seeing the car for the first time so thought it was time for a scrub up as it was filthy 🤣🚙⁣
