17kg down and the fittest and healthiest heās been to date šš¼
When Barrie and I first started working together, heād hit 125kg on the scales and knew it was time to make a change. His extremely busy job meant his own health had taken a back seat for too long - to a degree, it felt like now or never.
For Barrie, there was definitely an element of motivation around looking better, but a lot of this was also focused on his health and how he felt day to day. By creating momentum around other areas of his health, he also wanted to commit to using that drive to quit smoking for good.
As someone that had never stepped foot in the gym before, we had to build Barrieās confidence block by block. By giving him structure and guidance around his exercise, his strength very quickly improved and itās safe to say heās now the strongest heās ever been.
We also looked to put in place a plan around nutrition that was realistic with the demands of his work. Spending a lot of hours on the road, we knew there were limitations, so instead of working against them, we leant into want he could do, and slowly started to improve each week on that.
To be just under three stone down in 8 months, attending the gym three times a week, more active than ever and cigarette free is a huge achievement for Barrie. Without a doubt, all markers of his health and fitness have improved greatly.
Ultimately, it didnāt come down to luck. It came down to structure, accountability and a commitment to make a change.
If any of this resonates with you, feel free to reach out and Iād be happy to have a chat.
