The fabulous ‘Class of 58′ are such a talented family (Mum, Dad and 2 Sons) whose versatility know no bounds. Playing popular Doo-wop, Rock’ n’ Roll, R&B and Rockabilly classics, there is something for everybody. The legend that is Charlie Gracie said, “They sound like they have been playing for 40 years!” So, if you like that authentic 1950s sound, then Ruby’s is the place for you. Come and join the party!

In between sets, Shakin' Shep (Surrey Jive’s resident DJ) will be playing from his huge collection of ‘Red Hot and Blue’ floor fillers that include R'n'B, Rock’ n’ Roll, Rockabilly and Jump Jive. So, don’t forget to say you heard it first at Ruby’s, ‘The Home of Happy Feet.’

A big thank you to everyone who came to Ruby's last night.

Thank you very much for supporting us. It was nice to be back after summer break. You can see from the photos and the smiles on so many of your faces. What a wonderful evening it was. The Jets were on top form and played two fantastic sets for us. The quality of their performance and stand-out harmonies was second to none. You can see why they continue to attract an audience, some 51 years later! Thank you very much indeed.

I would also like to thank Peter Stockwell for his photos, which form part of this Surrey Jive's album 303. Stephen Gwalter's (Happy on the Planet) and John Reid's photos are to follow. So please don't forget to check back. We are extremely fortunate to have three such talented photographers at our events.

Lastly, but by no means least, were the army of helpers who helped us to clear up at the end of the evening. We are so grateful to you all.

Our next Ruby's is on Saturday 11th October, when we return to Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall, Woodfield Lane, Ashtead, Surrey, KT21 2BE (7.30 pm - 11.15 pm) and host The Class of 58.

The Jets were at the forefront in the resurgence of Rock n’ Roll and Rockabilly in the 1980’s and it is a testimony to their talents that they are such a sought-after band even today. With 14 albums to their name and 8 Chart single releases that include ‘Love Makes the World Go Round’ and ‘Yes Tonight Josephine’, tonight will be a trip down memory lane. For those too young to have known The Jets, you will quickly come to see why they stood the test of time….

*** Surrey Jive’s dance troupe ‘The Jive Squadron’ will be performing on Sunday 29th June (10 am – 5.00 pm) at Hatchlands Park National Trust ***

In 1945 HS Goodhart Rendel, the last owner of Hatchlands, gifted the estate to the National Trust. To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of this significant moment in the Trust’s history, there will be a live 1940’s jazz band, vintage garden games on the west lawn, two performances by The Jive Squadron at 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm, dance classes and dance music courtesy of DJ Shakin Shep. 1940’s themed clothing is welcomed but not essential.

So, why not bring your own picnic, pre order one or buy your picnic from the Hatchlands Café and make the most of our beautiful summer. The weather forecast is looking like the perfect day.

Great Balls of Fire…. When you see Cody Lee, you will think Jerry Lee Lewis is on piano!

Cody Lee is such an amazing talent, and he blew everyone away when he made his debut at Ruby’s last year (see attached photo). For that reason alone, we had to have him back! What a fantastic night we had at Ruby’s on Saturday night with Darrel Higham & The Enforcers. It was hot one both on and off the dance floor, but that didn’t stop you making the most of this talented group of guys. Darrel really is in a class of his own and it feels such a privilege to have him play for us. They played two fantastic sets and kept the floor busy all night. Thank you, guys, very much. You will be back!

As usual you brought that Ruby’s magic and made it such a fun place to be. The laughter on everyone’s faces emphasises to me just why I love doing this. Don’t forget to check out our photo album (287) from the evening. A huge thank you to Steve Gwalter (Happy on the Planet), Peter Stockwell and John Reid for capturing the memories for us. We are very lucky to have them.

Yes, it really is the Legendary Darrel Higham & The Enforcers at Ruby’s!

We cannot overstate how important and influential Darrel Higham has been and still is to the Rock n’ Roll and Rockabilly music scene. The word is often overused but he really is a legend, and we are so excited to have him perform for us at Ruby’s! Darrel toured the USA and recorded with Eddie Cochran’s original backing band ‘The Kelly Four.’ He played lead guitar in the West End production Elvis, recorded 2 albums with the Stray Cats drummer, Slim Jim Phantom, and played guitar for Sir Paul McCartney, Bono, Shakin Stevens, Jools Holland and many more. Please don’t miss him because it will be one hell of a night!

Yes, it’s Raven’s Rock n’ Roll Club on a SATURDAY NIGHT!
And……What better way to get your Saturday night rockin’ than to dance the night away to ‘The Mystery Train Riders.’ This 4-piece energetic band from the Northeast are making a trip down south, so please don’t miss this opportunity to see them. With a raw upbeat Rockabilly and Rock n’ Roll sound, these guys are exciting to dance to and watch. Hence, their booking at Hemsby in November of this year.

Earl Jackson has a ‘BIG’ personality, and this comes across in his high energy shows. The ultimate showman will leave you with the impression ‘Chuck Berry’ is on stage and he has the moves to prove it. Like many American Rock n’ Roll artists his roots began in gospel music where he performed for more than ten thousand people. Making the transformation to Rock n’ Roll, he formed ‘The Earl Jackson Four’ and performed on radio and TV including the Jonathan Ross show.
