GCM GCM - Georges Car Media Official Account
Helping drivers stay legal & safe on the roads. Myth-busting mods, police collabs & road safety tips.

George’s Car Media (GCM) helps UK drivers understand driving law, road safety, car modifications, and insurance rules without the confusion. Working closely with UK police officers and road safety partners, we break down what’s legal, what isn’t, how police actually enforce the law, and what really happens when drivers get stopped, fined, or caught out. From uninsured driving and speed cameras to

car mods, insurance pitfalls, and the mistakes new and experienced drivers make every day, our videos are based on real policing, real scenarios, and real consequences, without killing car culture. New videos regularly cover UK road laws, police stops, speed cameras, car insurance, and the driving mistakes that cost people points, fines, and licences.

⚠️ THINKING OF BUYING YOUR CHILD AN “E-BIKE”? READ THIS FIRST.

Just because it’s advertised as an e-bike doesn’t mean it legally counts as one.

A standard EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) must:

✅ Have pedals that can propel it
✅ Have a continuous rated motor output of no more than 250W
✅ Stop providing motor power above 15.5mph
✅ Limit throttle-only propulsion to walking assistance, up to 3.7mph

A bike with a throttle that propels it beyond 3.7mph without pedalling requires vehicle approval. Bikes that fall outside the standard EAPC regulations also require approval, such as Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval (MSVA).

If a bike doesn’t meet the EAPC rules, it’s classed as an electric motorcycle or moped.

To use an electric motorcycle on the road, it must be:

▪️ Approved, registered and taxed
▪️ Insured
▪️ Ridden with the correct driving licence
▪️ Ridden while wearing an approved motorcycle helmet

It cannot be ridden on pavements, cycle tracks or cycle lanes.

If it’s ridden without insurance, the rider may receive a fine and the bike could be seized by police.

Don’t rely on the wording in an online advert. Check the specifications and approval before buying, because that £300 “e-bike” could cost you much more.

Police Seized This E-Bike. Can You Spot Why?

It has no functioning pedals or chain and is powered entirely by the throttle. That’s before you even get to the ineffective brakes, dangerous tyre, loose battery and dodgy wiring.

It might look like an ordinary e-bike from a distance, but this one was neither legal nor safe to use on the road.

How much do you think it’ll cost the taxpayer if the rider of this bike crashes and seriously injures themselves or somebody else?

Will your insurance pay you out for the damage caused to your car if it crashes into you?

Are converted e-bikes, e-scooters and e-motorbikes used in crime?

There are many other hidden gems that often lie behind what looks like a simple seizure of a bike. Things aren’t always as straightforward as they seem.

Fitting a Roof Tent? Don’t Make This Mistake!

Roof tents, boxes and bike racks can cause absolute carnage if they’re not fitted correctly.

Sgt Owen Messenger explains why you need the correct roof bars for your exact vehicle, why the tent must be secured to the bars rather than the roof rails, and why buying the cheapest option could be a serious mistake.

This roof tent weighs around 50–60kg. You really don’t want it coming loose at motorway speeds.

Save this before fitting anything to your roof.

Fake Accounts Are Getting Out of Control

Someone stole our name, profile picture and started reposting our videos as if they were the real GCM. Once they'd built up a decent following, they switched to posting AI-generated content instead.

It's a tactic that's becoming more common. Build trust using someone else's reputation, then change the content once people stop paying attention.

Before you follow or share an account, take a few seconds to check it's genuine. Look at the username, when the account was created, previous posts and whether the content actually matches who they claim to be.

If you ever spot an account pretending to be GCM, we'd really appreciate you reporting it. Thanks for helping us keep the community safe. ❤️
