Helping drivers stay legal & safe on the roads. Myth-busting mods, police collabs & road safety tips.

George’s Car Media (GCM) helps UK drivers understand driving law, road safety, car modifications, and insurance rules without the confusion. Working closely with UK police officers and road safety partners, we break down what’s legal, what isn’t, how police actually enforce the law, and what really happens when drivers get stopped, fined, or caught out. From uninsured driving and speed cameras to

car mods, insurance pitfalls, and the mistakes new and experienced drivers make every day, our videos are based on real policing, real scenarios, and real consequences, without killing car culture. New videos regularly cover UK road laws, police stops, speed cameras, car insurance, and the driving mistakes that cost people points, fines, and licences.

The Cheap Insurance mistake young drivers keep making - Sgt Owen Explains!

Trying to lower insurance costs by putting someone else down as the main driver might sound harmless… but if you’re actually the main user of the car, it’s called fronting.

We never expected such a big response to the Van Speed Limits video and the demand for the stickers across platforms took us by surprise, so here’s a quick update from Owen in response to the hundreds of messages!

100,000 of you… mad.

We started this to make road safety actually make sense, never thinking it would grow like this.

The fact that this many people are watching, sharing, and actually taking something from it means a lot.

Just a quick reminder… the rules we talk about have always been there. We’re just here to make them easier to understand. Most of you get that. A few still don’t… and that’s exactly why we keep going.

Big thank you aswell to everyone that’s been involved along the way - we couldn’t have done it without you! 🫡

From me, Owen, and the team… thank you.

We appreciate every single one of you. More to come 🙌

Why L Plates Actually Protect Learner Drivers (Most People Don’t Realise This)

L plates aren’t just there for show… they completely change how other drivers treat you on the road.
When people see a learner, they expect mistakes. That split second of understanding makes drivers hang back, give more space, and drive with extra caution.
Owen breaks down why this matters… and why that same “protection” doesn’t really exist for motorbike riders.
If you’re learning to drive, or even riding a bike, this is something you need to understand.

Tyres aren’t cheap… so why are so many drivers wearing them out early?

Get the pressure wrong and you’re literally burning money.
Too high = worn in the middle
Too low = worn on the edges

You also lose grip and waste fuel.

Check your tyre pressures weekly.
You’ll usually find the correct pressures inside the door shut or fuel cap.

Simple habit. Saves tyres. Saves fuel. Safer driving.

If You Drive a Work Van… This Reflects on Your Company

When you’re behind the wheel of a work vehicle, you’re not just driving for yourself… you’re representing the business.

Police regularly see sign written vans speeding and committing offences on the road.

To other drivers, that van is a moving advert.
And the way it’s driven says everything about the company behind it.

There are also different speed limits for vans… something many drivers either forget or ignore.

If you drive for work, it’s worth thinking about how it looks from the outside.

This E-Scooter Just Got Seized… Here’s Why

Owen pulls over a rider and seizes their e-scooter on the spot.

Here’s what most people don’t realise… under the Road Traffic Act 1988, e-scooters are classed as mechanically propelled vehicles (MPVs). That basically means anything with a motor that can move itself, including electric scooters.

Because of that, they need to meet the same legal requirements as other motor vehicles… insurance, correct use, and being used in the right place.

Privately owned e-scooters don’t meet those rules, so using them on roads, pavements, or public spaces can get you points, a fine, and your scooter seized.

Rental ones are different, but only in approved areas and if you follow the rules.

Be honest… did you actually know that?

Parents Are Still Parking On These… And It’s Dangerous

20mph is there for a reason outside schools.
Those yellow zigzags aren’t just paint, they protect children by keeping sight lines clear.

White zigzags at crossings do the same.

Stop or park on them and you could face 3 points and a fine.

If you park inside the “crocodile teeth”… don’t be surprised when it bites back.

How do you actually set your wing mirrors… and are you 100% sure it’s right?

Most drivers set them so they can clearly see the side of their own car. Feels natural… but it actually creates a bigger blind spot.

If you look at this guide, the aim is simple
You should only see a tiny sliver of your car, then angle the mirror out so you’re picking up the lane next to you instead.

After chatting with a driving instructor, it turns out loads of people have been doing it slightly wrong for years without realising.

Even more interesting, the police take it a step further. Owen Messenger showed me his setup and it really opens up your field of view when it’s done properly.

But here’s the key thing most people forget
Mirrors don’t remove blind spots completely. You still need that shoulder check before moving over.

So what about you…
Are you running your mirrors wide like this, or still keeping them tight on the car?

And looking at the guide… would you change yours now?
