OUR LOCAL TEAM: Councillor Harry Davis & Manny Martins

First elected at 18, Harry Davis has been a local Borough Councillor since 2022. Since then, he has gained respect across the political divide for his enthusiasm to help local people and his work to improve Fareham as a whole.

Harry lives and works in this area. He has taken-up 100s of local issues across Fareham and, by being proactive, has succeeded in getting many things done.

Outside of local politics, Harry is a keen walker and has raised money for charity by walking 115 miles from Fareham to Hertfordshire.

Manny Martins has lived and worked in Fareham for over 25 years. He lives on Portchester Road and knows our area like the back of his hand.

Since COVID, Manny has worked as the local NHS’s volunteer recruitment lead. Many 1,000s of residents would have seen him at clinics over the past few years.

Manny has worked closely with local Fareham Councillors Harry Davis, Pam Bryant, Nick Walker and Sue Walker - getting results for our new ‘Wallington & Downend’ Ward that stretches across Wallington, Downend, and includes parts of Fareham and Portchester.

Councillor Harry Davis & Manny Martins, local residents, getting things done!

While walking around the Wallington & Downend Ward this weekend, I reported the following issues:

* Fly-Tipping: Condor Avenue & Swivelton Lane

* Pathway Obstructions: Cams Hill Golf Course

* Graffiti: Cams Hill (reported it, saw it being cleaned the next day) & Wallington

* Mossy Pavements: Ventor Way & Alum Way

Manny and I are making good progress at tidying-up our local area. If there is any local issue that we may be able to assist with, please get in touch.

ROAD SAFETY: Cams Hill, Portchester Road, Old Turnpike, Downend, Wickham Road & Shearwater Avenue

Councillor Harry Davis is continuing to tackle reckless speeding and ‘rat-running’, which has been more widespread because of the A27 Roadworks (which Harry and Manny opposed).

Harry asked the Council to respray the yellow hatched-lines at the Downend Road & Cams Hill junction, which has been done. Harry also asked the Council & Police to stop drivers from continually ignoring it by consider serious enforcement action, which they are now doing.

Cams Hill School and Hampshire Highways have organised cones to be placed near the school on Shearwater Avenue to stop inconsiderate pavement parking and to help improve the safety of students.

Harry was recently contacted by a young student who had read his InTouch newsletter. This student had tripped over a dangerous hole in the pavement on the corner of Portchester Road & Oysell Gardens, near Cams Hill School. It was quickly marked-up for repair and has now been resurfaced.

If there is anything that needs 'fixing' in your local area, please do get in touch.

Fareham Police will be looking at enforcement action for drivers who continuously block the yellow hatched box at the Downend Road junction.

Action on Potholes: Serpentine Road, North Hill, Cams Bay Close, Beaulieu Avenue, Portchester Road, Wallington, many of our country lanes & other rural roads

Our local Councillor Harry Davis and campaigner Manny Martins have succeeded in reporting and getting potholes resurfaced along the above roads. They were a danger to all road users, especially cyclists riding at night or in poor weather conditions.

If YOU know of any potholes or damaged road or paving surfaces in YOUR area that are in need of repair, please let Harry and Manny know and they will get action for you.

Cams Railway Viaduct

Good news to improve the appearance of our local area! The Cams Railway Viaduct is set to be cleaned-up of the excessive weeds and overgrowth.

The vegetation was already starting to disrupt pointing and damage the brickwork of the arches. Network Rail is due to start removing the vegetation from the viaduct and also to carry out much-needed repairs to the brickwork in the first half of this year.

Our local campaigner Manny Martins is also working to get the graffiti removed here.

Here are details of three local issues taken-up recently by our local Conservative Councillor Harry Davis & Manny Martins.

DECAYING & FALLEN TREES: Portchester Road, Cams School, The Thicket & Downend Road

Over the New Year period, Harry and Manny were kept busy responding to local residents’ concerns over the number of fallen trees that were blocking footpaths and had damaged cars & property. Now, local campaigner Manny Martins has been out across the Wallington & Downend Ward identifying decaying trees so he can report them before they fall and damage is done.

OVERFLOWING BINS: Cams Hill, Wallington & in & around the Town Centre

Litter and dog-fouling bins around our area are often overflowing, particularly in the New Year. Harry has asked the Council to empty them more often.

EMPTY ROAD SIGN: Furzehall Ave, Cornfield, The Meadows, Harebell Cl, Foxgloves & Swallow Wood

The road name sign that is meant to be here has been missing for a very long time. It just looks an eyesore! Harry has asked the Council to finally sort it.

Councillor Harry Davis & local campaigner Manny Martins are getting on and improving our local area! If they can ever help you with any local problem, please get in touch. They’re here working for you all-the-year-round.
